  • Also did they get the power back on at the other 4 reactor sites damaged a couple of days ago?
    by Cat 4/12/2011 1:28:04 AM

  • @cara, i lost the feed too...edano just began speaking about deaths at the plant and it won't reload
    by Angela5pointo 4/12/2011 1:28:22 AM

  • @Cat Yes they restored power about 50 minutes after it was lost.
    by borrrden 4/12/2011 1:28:25 AM

  • @Angela5pointo There was just an earthquake a few minutes ago, might have disrupted it....

  • HMM
    by carabnr 4/12/2011 1:29:20 AM

  • @borrrden how big was that one? I didn't see it posted on usgs yet.
    by Angela5pointo 4/12/2011 1:29:57 AM

  • @borrrden Thanks, I think it was only a matter of time for that decision but according to governments around the world there really isn't much data available on safe limits of exposure - they claim the set limits are very conservative. So only time will tell
by George Gibb 4/12/2011 1:30:24 AM

  • @Angela5pointo Nevermind, it seems to have been a false alarm on my phone....it wasn't as big as the alarm indicated.

  • www.jma.go.jp M4.3 Maximum Level 2, so pretty much nothing, so I guess the broadcast stopped for another reason....

by James Ward 4/12/2011 1:32:26 AM

  • @James Ward No, that was 2 hours ago, everyone felt that one except me ironically >_<.
    by borrrden 4/12/2011 1:33:14 AM

  • @Cat I think TEPco could publish whatever they wanted but by doing so it might be counter productive to the task at hand. Finger pointing may come later

  • by NHK Listener via Tepco.co.jp 4/12/2011 1:44:11 AM

  • @James Ward I have actually never heard of that accident before - pretty scary track record.
by George Gibb 4/12/2011 1:45:58 AM

  • @Nancy. Monju power station had a fire (started by a leak?) back in the mid 1990s. I was living here in Japan at the time. This fire, together with a following cover up, led to it being closed for many many years. I believe it started working fully just last year. By the way Monju (purposely chosen) is the Japanese of Manjusri...the Buddhist bodhisattva of wisdom. Don't you just love that touch!
    by Will 4/12/2011 1:48:51 AM

  • @Will @George Gibb What I stumbled across about the Monju accident and cover up. Really follows along the TEPCO games going on now. en.wikipedia.org
