by Rob in SF 4/22/2011 2:55:58 AM

  • @dean Honor is very important to them. That's why I think the people of Japan are embarrassed with Tepco.
by Jim Carver 4/22/2011 2:57:31 AM

    by Nancy 4/22/2011 3:00:15 AM

  • very nicely done marie.. I'll hunt for the link for you to read further on the sequence as seen in the eyes of NRC and DOE and others..
    by dean 4/22/2011 3:00:19 AM

  • @Nancy Interesting. Hard to know what the person on the street really thinks. Kinda like peole down here. They never come out and say what they really mean.
by Jim Carver 4/22/2011 3:02:08 AM

  • @Nancy Coincidentally you bring that up just as Japanese honor and humility is mentioned.
I fear more that a bit of seppuku before all is over.
by Rob in SF 4/22/2011 3:03:26 AM

  • Even if they had done what was necessary, like having a decent backup system. It still would have been very difficult.
by Jim Carver 4/22/2011 3:03:46 AM

  • time for rest.. see yall in the a.m.
    by dean 4/22/2011 3:04:10 AM

  • @dean Yeah me too. I'm gonna have some ice cream and hope we get some more rain. It's around tonite :)
by Jim Carver 4/22/2011 3:05:44 AM

  • @dean Just read wikipedia and it does track with what happened alot. Just a quick quote out of many: loss-of-coolant accident can also cause a steam 'bubble' to form in the core due to excessive heating of stalled coolant or by the subsequent loss-of-pressure-control accident caused by a rapid loss of coolant.
(This event is less likely to occur in boiling water reactors, where the core may be deliberately depressurized so that the Emergency Core Cooling System may be turned on). They lost the ECCS @ 4:36pm on 11Mar.!
by marie rich 4/22/2011 3:05:57 AM

  • @marie rich They prob could have made it through one or the other. But not both disasters.
by Jim Carver 4/22/2011 3:09:00 AM

  • @marie rich You have done a great job!!!! Well done to you!
    by Angie 4/22/2011 3:09:23 AM

  • @Jim Carver Yes,Jim. And it would have realy helped the situation if Tepco had opted to upgrade to hardened valves and other suggestions of the NRC, post TMI.
by marie rich 4/22/2011 3:10:35 AM

  • @Angie Ty very much. Hope it cans help with what's happening in unit 1 now.

  • TEPCO makes me sick....Oh, the rad has increased in one day by the silt fence of intake to #2, 'cuz it's doing such a good job of containing it! And the other ones? Oh, yes, water in # 5 and #6, just a seepy basement, y'all, no fissures here...And that same 'seep' just happens to surface at the north (opposite side from reactors) side of the admin bldg...move along
by marie rich 4/22/2011 3:17:56 AM

by marie rich 4/22/2011 3:22:02 AM

  • @marie rich I know and it takes a lot of time to put things together. I've been working on it and found things were too scattered out. So, trying to get everything in one place so we can find stuff. Spent my whole day one day looking for something and finally found it right under my nose.

by marie rich 4/22/2011 3:25:49 AM
