@General Armchair i was looking at the pic you mentioned... i was looking at some older ones that are a differnt angle... it shows them more surpintine... both the circle and the serpt are a result of the top of the wall coming over.. the question is the cause.... i was on a different site that was looking at the fires at four,,,, its anyones guess and really does not change anything.... the one thing that irrates me is they have had to pick up the pieces, so they know a lot more than they are releasing....

@General Armchair possibly was flying flat (horizontal) hit the lower part of the end wall that is pushed out and bounced up into the rafters or what was left. BTW, the scattered pieces on top of the roof girders looks like parts of the tin roof.

@General Armchair news is just reporting over 300 dead from storms... the NRC was like a bunch of idiots today... this is the worst storm pattern in 80 years.... (does that sound like what japan is saying) eight students killed at some campus (off campus )

@fitter I know it's incredible. I can't recall this much death from one storm system -- not that I'm a ghoul or anything but is that the highest death toll for one system? I'm used to more like 15 or 20.

@Veen Oui I don't think FEMA can redeam themselves.... I have had seven hurricane EYES, two floods and (a few tornados) and three northeastreners in the since 2004 and they are usless......

@Veen Oui but acroding to the NCR meeting today , DOnt worry we have 4 hours of batteries.... it takes longer for the storms to go through.... four hours is a joke... the fire dept has to walk the niebor hoods and spray paint the houses, they can't get any vehicals down the roads... nor an ambulance... usually for two days

@elainekirk they will do that but the core shield should fit, its cheaper to cut the steel to the size you can get in, than rebuid the wall.... with that said surry or north anna (one of those i think) the had to cut the wall to get the new heads in and then repair the wall (thats not cheap, because its the containment building) that my guess anyway

@General Armchair they can only get so much in the reator at a time due to the internals and nozzles. plus it would be to big to handle as one piece....

@fitter Even TEPCO know the danger of having only one emergency backup system at a NPP - in a press notice yesterday they requested an amendment to the saftely regs for Daiini to ensure a minimum of TWO emergency generating facitities were available as backup, rather than the required ONE to secure operations. They cited a recent outage at Higashi-dori NPP to support their amendment:
"The Earthquake Off the Coast of Miyagi Prefecture occurred on April 7, 2011 and Higashi-dori Nuclear Power Station of Tohoku Electric Power Company lost the offsite power and emergency generating facilities started up to maintain the power source. Although the offsite power has been restored, emergency generating facilities shut down due to some troubles. Thus, it was reported as a failure to secure the restriction of operation regulated in the safety regul

all i keep watching people discuss the water levels and tons evaporated, and all these weight calcs... but no one seem to talk about 1) how much SALT weight is oin the pools 2) how much water is beig displaced by the salt 3) how much of the fuel is covered on the bottom by salt,,, and what does that effect does the salt have on the fuel

@fitter @es The language of the TEPCO announcement is typically weasily, too. I assume the backup diesel generator failed while it was in use and necessary? (Otherwise, wouldn't they turn it off after reconnecting to the grid?)
