@rob when you consider that it was GE who blew the whistle on tepco at the turn of the century over their maintanance failures resulting in tepco losing their licence for awhile then you have to question the sincerity of the GE statement (anywhere else and I would have called them .................)

Wouldn't distancing themselves from TEPCO's fairly obvious (by now) incompetence be a better business model then backing them up this way? Was looking up possible maintenance contracts between GE and TEPCO and ran across this. I wasn't aware of the term "Burakumin" so I'm including the Wikipedia page on them, too. The day laborers / contractors are Japan's nuclear sponges.

Their peace of mind and their health suffer because of exposure to radiation. The working conditions of subcontractor workers are particularly harsh and injuries are common.
