@Jim Carver that is exactly what they did. They suspended posting heat stats until they had a day where they were cooled down again, released those and now nothing again.

@Nancy I suspect the reason the media got those two 90C quotes from TEPCO is because a reporter asked at a press conf. It was not TEPCO being forthcoming.

@Rob in SF seems to be the only way to get any info. I tried asking the USAF division that does the drone fly overs. Emailed their press office hoping maybe that data was public since MOD is getting it and releasing it but no luck. USAF considers it classified.

Tepco to Start Decontaminating Water at Fukushima Nuclear Plant in June

Tokyo Electric Power Co. will receive a “mega float” next month to store radioactive water from its crippled nuclear power station and expects to start decontaminating the water used to cool reactors in June.

The floating storage is undergoing maintenance and will arrive at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi station by mid-May, Naoyuki Matsumoto, a spokesman for the utility known as Tepco, said by telephone today. A decontamination unit, using technology from Areva SA (CEI) and Kurion Inc., is expected to be operational in June, the company said yesterday.
When Russia were dumping low level waste from their subs in the sea of Japan, Japan got upset and globally there was an effort to help russia with its aging fleet this was many many mons ago. Japan contributed a floating storage unit for the water, Russia is now loaning i back to them. ironic ain't it eh

Yes, I have seen those, @elainekirk. Just the habitual skeptic in me curious about what the Nihongo labels in that spent-fuel crane illustration were saying. Two characters that imply the meaning "possible" or "possibility" seemed to shout at me because they tended to look out of place in this scene. Of course, it may just be me...
