I do not do X-Rays anymore, I insist on MRIs. I get them too, everyone likes to play with new toys.by Ralph Unger 5/2/2011 1:52:22 AM- Well I have to say that living in Japan I have the luxury of being older and having grown kids, it makes my decisions personal and not long term, but I cannot tell you the distress here among people with young kids and who are expecting. I remember well keeping my kids inside out of the rain after Chernobyl and how they teased me to their friends at the door saying "my Dad won't let us go outside, he says it's poison out there," but I never had to contemplate leaving jobs and homes like they are all doing.by bo 5/2/2011 1:56:53 AM

@Ralph Unger I've read the conversation below and I admit I'm confused about these radiation measurements and decay events in space and time. Any chance you can explain in any further detail your calculation re converting bo's 1.7 Bqs per cm squared of Co-60 reading into safe background levels? @Ralph Unger You do get a rad dose from an MRI, they just don't publicize it very much. I had been MRI'd a couple of times and my doc said I shouldn't get another one for a while unless there was something life threatening. Meanwhile had a doc want to cat scan my head because my allergies were acting up in spring.by Nancy 5/2/2011 2:12:19 AM- Oh No! - Well, I am off for my bike ride to work, which takes me through the Peace Memorial Park and past the (almost hidden) ground zero here in Hiroshima. As always there will be hibakusha cleaning and tending to the park, which is sometimes described as a giant cemetery. - I would be happy to. In Nagasaki ground zero is the focus of the Peace Park. Here in Hiroshima it is a small stone on a side street and people often search for it in vain for weeks before someone points it out to them. Very strange.
