@fitter I can't read the Japanese language media, but since the first two weeks, I have not seen "current" readings at all. Then I saw them on Japanese tv, almost like a weather chart with temps listed by city. Now all I have seen is media reports of statements being made by people, not daily readings

@Ralph Unger for some reason that is one that it doesn't read, this was made for industry, but it does read for 12 specific radionuclides

@fitter I am not sure how it works, it has a very sensitive monitor that I hold up to anything, food, plants, water, air, and there are two separate monitors for alpha and gamma

A long half life means it will be around for a long time, it also means it is not as dangerous as short half-life products as it take the am

@Reed my peak reading was 1.70 Bq/cm(squared). This was off of plants and dirt read through the cracks in the walls of a hillside.

@bo Thank you. That is not good news. I am very suprised to see a Co-60 reading in Hiroshima. Due to the half-life of 5.27 years, one can not write that off to history.

That seems to be about normal Bo. That is 1.7 decay events per? what was the setting?

@Ralph Unger not sure how to read it. I confess ignorance and also having just begun to take measurements. The reading is Bq/cm(squared) but should I be looking for another setting or guage?
