Article in NHK maybe was "tempered" in numbers by GOJ. Anyway there are a lot of radiaton in both cases, and clearly explains the genisis of pollution and possible places of concentration after a few weeks.

@marie rich Yes, there is, i read that all the post's here can be downloaded as EXCEL.......which would have to be integrated "imported" into an access Database.......I am not proficient in that, what i did do a long time ago was to to create a Web form that called the info from a DB.............but that was over ten years ago...

@Nancy - with your expertice and documentation you could get the info out to ordinary people. There you can build the pressure on the governments. People need to know. In Scandinavia, we don't hear much of Japan anymore.

@Nancy Do you know off any thermal images of #3 with higher scale values? Most of them run 0 to 30 or 40 C, which gives good resolution of #4, but leaves #3 (in the few I've seen) a maxxed out white blob. Just wondering if there are any thermals that show how hot the pool gets in the center of the white hot spot?

2:06 post about woman worker at Fukushima Daiichi NPP who has exceeded her annual dose limit of 5 milliSievert. She received about 7.5 mSv. Then the next story about Toshizo Kosako resigning over GoJ allowing 20 milliSievert annual dose (external) to kids in Fukushima Prefecture. So GoJ goes through hula hoops when an adult woman receives 7.5 mSv working at nuke accident clean up site, but kids getting that every four months, is permitted?

Is it any wonder that Toshizo Kosako resigned?

@Mona There isn't much in the news anywhere. The experience is here in the group. Hopefully we will get the kinks worked out and have some more official actions taking shape soon. Everyone seems ready to do something.

After I get done with the epic page of document indexing I can start working on helping Radioguy get that website in the works. Getting the name hashed out, figuring out more specifics on what people want to act on so we can see how much group consensus there is, get those actions documented and web content sorted out... Does anyone know if any of the PR people are still lurking on the board? I can't remember who has marketing and PR experience, they could be really helpful getting press releases to the media outlets.

Shareholders want nuclear plants closed

A group of Tohoku Electric Power Company shareholders will submit a motion calling for the closure of the company's nuclear plants.

220 individual stockholders decided on the move ahead of the company's annual shareholders' meeting at the end of next month.

The investors are demanding that the utility state in its agreement with shareholders that it will close its nuclear power plants and end its investment in a reprocessing plant in Aomori Prefecture and similar projects.

The shareholders say the problems at the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was a warning that accidents at any nuclear plant can lead to dangers that cannot be contained by any one company.

They will deliver documents on the demand to the company on Monday. The subject is expected to be discussed at this year's shareholders' meeting.

The move comes after the firm measured tsunamis higher than expected and strong tremors at its Onagawa nuclear plant in Miyagi Prefecture during the March 11th earthquake and the aftershock on April 7th.

The Tohoku Electric Power Company declined to comment on the move. But it said it had safely suspended operations at its power plants and that it will improve its risk management and strengthen measures to check its equipment.

i think this is a question not really discussed here: closing all plants and make an alternative scenario. most people still think of "improving" nuclear power. but nukes are yesterday's solution, not tomorrow's.

@Veen Oui I can see why the shareholders would do it. Kill off something that holds the risk of bankrupting the entire company and having their investment gone. They must have felt the risk was too high. Rather unprecedented action. That needs international attention. Quite a big deal to see happen.

In europe the wind power is the big money cow they get all kinds of subsidies from the EU who of course are funded by the taxpayer, I hear that they just need to have a wind farm to have the money rolling in even if they only produce a whiff of electricity

The thermal power sites are also tourist and spa sites, they don't want to destroy them by putting in power generating equipment.
