  • Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, in Fukushima Prefecture, began operation in 1971 and has six nuclear reactors, the capacity of which is 4,696 MW. The power station is located approximately 250 km (155 miles) north of Tokyo in the towns of Futaba and Ohkuma, facing the Pacific Ocean. The site of the station covers about 3.5 million square meters (865 acres) and the plants are built on solid bedrock.

  • @elainekirk : i thought it could be because they found no solid rock anymore on the old construction site. and #4 therefore could have been a risky construction.
    by Edano 5/8/2011 12:23:50 AM

  • @dean Thats from a TEPCO rpesser for handout to the senior citizens. What is bedrock, to TEPCO? I read an article that said that liquid glass stuff a few weeks ago was injected into bedrock.

  • cdnmo.coveritlive.com

Interesting Japanese bomb image from the gloresis chat. The wartime use of nuclear energy seems to leave the same kind of skeleton as the peacetime misuse.
