@elainekirk Well one thing to keep in mind is that natural processes are not all separate, erosion and mountain building are happening at the same time and at different rates. That's what makes the landforms appear as they are. Don't forget the enormous time spans involved also.

The article talks about the aftershock potential, they don't mention it but it is Bath's law that states a typical aftershock will be approx. 1 degree (~1.2) smaller than the original quake. We are still waiting for the 8 pt. quake and could be for a year or more. I personally give it about 6 months.

@elainekirk I think the aftershock will be the end of Dai-ichi. My brother was talking about today how no history goes back more than three generations. The old ones knew not to build below the markers. The young ones ignored them. It's also ignorant to build such fragile machines in a place like that. They are lucky to have gotten away with it this long.

@wtm -thanks for link, but can't get it to work Wierd, was watching fine, then cam pulled back to long distance, then up close to 1 & 2 which seemed to have a heat haze, then cut altogether...

@fitter, yes they were slowly scanning around and zooming in on them all, may still be doing that.

@Jim - did you read that link I posted yesterday of 1st study of the March quake. showed a chart of tsunami heights which demonstrates why they should never have built a plant on that coastline

Found that I have to use the Microsoft IE browser to be able to do full page, Firefox just gets a black screen.

@UKVal I did glance at it. I knew about the mounuments from class and I had a Prof. that was crazy about seismicity, he was from CA. Dr. Peterson. He talked about the complexity of doing stratigraphy in those types of locales, overturned, faulted, Metamorphosed sediments containing intrusive bodies. Complex stuff. He was also the one that said there is no such thing as an aftershock. I wrote about that one day.

Since the camera was actually giving a decent view I grabbed a screenshot and ran it through photoshop to make it easier to see. Would be a beautiful place to be with the hills and the sea if it wasn't for the whole exploding power plant mess. www.houseoffoust.com
