@wtm Well, TEPCO suspects leaks from some of the RPVs' water pumps. It's on their website. That might be the source of the steam.
by Pedro Jesus 5/11/2011 6:05:57 PM
@Ralph Unger I can provide translation if Google doesn't do the job. Actually, I will provide the translation on future updates. They are updating the Spanish earthquake news as I write.
by Pedro Jesus 5/11/2011 6:06:56 PM
Não me confunda, por favor, eu não falo português.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:07:13 PM
@Pedro, It would have to be gushing out those pumps to get the amount of steam we are seeing now. Don't think that is the source ?
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:07:20 PM
Something major......steam, smoke across the entire area
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:08:21 PM
Never mind I can translate.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:08:29 PM
Can that really be only pumps? I can't imagine that. But I can be wrong.
by Mina 5/11/2011 6:08:31 PM
Wow! Big smoke.
by LM 5/11/2011 6:09:22 PM
Check the TBS/JNN cam !!!!
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:09:24 PM
That looks bad again!
by Mina 5/11/2011 6:09:52 PM
Night visoin show heat a lot more then light. I dunno.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:09:55 PM
My guess is , business as usual there.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:10:53 PM
@mina,@WTM: IS that a real picture or image being distorted..That's a lot of smoke
by Optim 5/11/2011 6:11:27 PM
I don't think that is fog... Did anyone see the buildup between a the three steaming and this?
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:11:49 PM
Real pic, looks like between #2 and #3 ?
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:12:04 PM
That is heat, which we all know is there already.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:12:12 PM
UPDATE 18:09 UTC : At least 7 people have died. At least seven deaths in the population of Murcia Lorca is the provisional balance left by the two almost consecutive earthquakes shaking this afternoon the Murcia region, as confirmed by the delegation of the Government.
by Edano 5/11/2011 6:12:33 PM
The lower portion of the picture is always dark at night - no lights. What you see at night is that strip of light where the buildings are. Now it is pretty much covered.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:12:50 PM
Either a storm going thru or something major just happened
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:12:51 PM
One or two years to cool down the fuel? Even more for the MOX.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:13:09 PM
That's no fog. I made some screenshots. I will upload them.
by Mina 5/11/2011 6:13:22 PM
@nancy not fog majority from 3 I would guess but either side steaming too
by elainekirk 5/11/2011 6:13:39 PM
IS Bo around? He will have the connections to verify if something major happened. I just the cam like 20 minss back and it was fine ...right?
by Optim 5/11/2011 6:13:53 PM
I am seeing a digital zoom on a bad pic.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:13:55 PM
Thanks Mina, I grabbed one large shot for posterity. Was anyone watching it as it built up?
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:14:03 PM
#3 is behind the middle tower, #2 is to the left, looks like the heaviest is around bottom #2 area
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:14:20 PM
@Ralph Unger Night vision is not the same as infra-red. I think those cameras have light enhancement but not infra-red (the ones I saw footage from) . Correct me if I'm wrong.
by Pedro Jesus 5/11/2011 6:14:25 PM
There was a buildup from all 3 just before.
by LM 5/11/2011 6:14:38 PM
Last I looked was maybe 30 min ago, all 3 were steaming but you could see buildings.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:14:43 PM
@Ralph: Pic quality has been bad at night for last 2 days..We never saw this much steam/smoke
by Optim 5/11/2011 6:15:00 PM
@Pedro Jesus when they have work lights on we can see buildings at night. When off nothing or bare shadows.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:15:10 PM
@Nancy, Yes, looked like steam coming from #3 & 3\4, and then it just blossomed around #2 & 3 area till what you see now.
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:15:24 PM
I think you are right, but digital cams just wait(if they have CCD's) for enough info for a frame.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:15:27 PM
@Nancy: It was a buildup for sure. First pic 3:08 i55.tinypic.com
Fog doesn't roll in, in a minute. Seems to be coming from the right.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:18:07 PM
Cricky people! There is no radiation increase!
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:18:10 PM
@Nancy So they're not infra-red cameras thus they would not detect heat. They only enhance lighting at night like CCTV cameras. That picture is clearly not from a infra-red camera. And there surely seems to be a lot of smoke but I wouldn't bet on it.
