@Nancy, big concentrated spot of steam above #3 reactor area.

Lower melting point for MOX led to the fuel criticality, Is that news?
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:23:15 PM
Whew, 4 is still standing
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:23:17 PM
@Nancy, that is just left of the center tower.
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:23:36 PM
@Ralph Unger It was to me yesterday. :-)
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:23:36 PM
Does anyone read my links?
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:24:11 PM
My mother was Japanese, we never say anything directly.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:25:30 PM
Settling down now, but MAJOR smoke/steam out of middle of #3
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:25:44 PM
Look at #3, smoke.steam out of bottom of #3, not the top as before
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:26:37 PM
We know there is no "venting" on 4. People are pretty sure they don't have any venting control on 3. This is the second time this has happened about this time of day. It started about now on Sat.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:26:39 PM
nancy, I saw the buildup-heard on another forum that there was an exposion on 3 w/mini mushroom-when i checked it out hard to see w/low res cam-very thick black smk low to grnd on 3-then it somehow seemed to affect 4 which had white smoke, then eventually 2 and then 3 just got more and more and all of them then now---this-started frm 3 apparently
by anon 5/11/2011 6:26:51 PM
Look at the live feed-NOW
by anon 5/11/2011 6:26:54 PM
all 3 emitting smoke simultaneously...Coincidence or by design?
UPDATE 18:21 UTC : Given the relative abnormality of such large earthquakes in this area and the fact that 2 descended upon Lorca in short time, there is a feeling of chaos in Lorca, with much damage reported. 7 continues to be the total killed. These deaths all occurred from the 2nd earthquake (the larger of the two, at M5.2).

No. the earlier cams had steam out of the top of #3, now is different, smoke/steam out of the BOTTOM of #3, encompassing the entire lower levels.
by wtm 5/11/2011 6:29:13 PM
@anon did anyone happen to get a screen capture of that blast they said they saw?
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:29:53 PM
sorry for the quality, but figure it is better than nothing, in big screen i watched in horror :(
by Debra Beckham 5/11/2011 6:30:01 PM
Still waiting on the Spain quake to be reassigned to more then 1 km,.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:30:22 PM
@Ralph If it were IR we'd be seeing this every night, all night. Spot lights enhance our ability to see steam/smoke.
by LM 5/11/2011 6:31:08 PM
Normal video cam has some IR as the filter is not that good.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:32:00 PM
All three at once... it might be an effect of a cool night by the ocean and warm nuclear waste, ie, a thermal/steam effect.
by Ian 5/11/2011 6:32:11 PM
I don't think they were watering. No crane on 4, usually can at least see the outline of it on a big screen
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:32:23 PM
Has anyone figured out what camera the TBS feed actually is?
by Markfm 5/11/2011 6:32:36 PM
@Ian currently 57 degrees F, 11c.
by Nancy 5/11/2011 6:32:41 PM
@Nancy: I don;t know how they can do it..All 3 emitting smoke at same time and then all of them reducing seems too synchronized..
by Optim 5/11/2011 6:32:46 PM
A ccd has Ir by default, we use filters to keep it to visable light.
by Ralph Unger 5/11/2011 6:34:24 PM
If any kind of explosion happened it might affect the others or look like it has. It would then appear simultaneous as the culprit settled down.
