    by LM 5/18/2011 12:17:21 AM

  • @nancy so it wasnt just me who couldnt save it!! you rock!
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 12:18:13 AM

  • @Elaine, I had no problem saving a copy, but then again, I don't have the Japanese font installed on it.
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:23:46 AM

  • @wtm good that makes me more easy knowing somebody has it
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 12:28:28 AM

  • @Elainekirk, all I get is the pics, no writing (no Japanese fonts)
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:29:26 AM

  • are you talking about the tepco doc Elaine posted last? If so I saved it no problem -complete with Japanese fonts
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:30:20 AM

  • @UKVal, I think that is what they are talking about ?
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:34:03 AM

  • @wtm thanks for the reply. I was beginning to wonder if only I could see my posts
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:35:09 AM

  • @Edano, did you know somebody over at TBS/JNN ?? Maybe they can get a closeup of #4, got really good quality pics today !!!
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:36:33 AM

  • @wtm I keep playing spot the difference with 4 & am still not sure what has changed if anything. However there do seem to be a few more pieces which look as if they're hanging out of the front
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:38:53 AM

  • @UKVal, it looks like more of the right top corner has dropped, you can now see across the roof top there to the back corner, don't remember being able to see that.
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:40:30 AM

  • @all to unlock the TEPCO pdf documents google PDF unlock. IT seems to work on whatever they are putting on their PDF documents so you can't do things to them.
    by Nancy 5/18/2011 12:41:02 AM

  • @UKVal, the sun as moved, a little harder to see now, earlier it was real clear on that top section.
    by wtm 5/18/2011 12:42:34 AM

  • @wtm yep I think it may have dropped more -it's been slowly sagging - hardly surprising I guess since some of the girders at I end aren't connected to the wall
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:43:01 AM

  • @wtm the other thing that seems diffferent is the front wall which seems to be more buckled below the gaping hole. But it could be I misremember

  • Blimey plans here but not as we know them - think a @Nancy touch is called for www.tepco.co.jp
(drawing) deep well Sabudoren (PDF 536KB )
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 12:52:46 AM

  • @Reed great! I've been trying to find something like that without success.
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:53:33 AM

  • @reed oh thats clever so fuku is sort of like a floating island?
Reed how does that relate to the deep well on the plans I just posted? is the water running of the fuku shelf and draining to the groundwater through that well?
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 12:53:47 AM

  • @elainekirk Ecactly...crack the concrete and the water flows down into some very porous sandstone.
Here comes one more to show how it interacts with the water at the coast...
    by Reed 5/18/2011 12:57:06 AM

  • @elainekirk good find! I wonder what the red circle is for?
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 12:57:30 AM

  • by Reed via Walrus.wr.usgs.gov 5/18/2011 12:58:02 AM

  • @nancy i am assuming that is the well and also that it could be the way radiation is in the groundwater @reed that is quite scary
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 1:00:07 AM

  • @elainekirk Here's the "scary" one... :)
    by Reed 5/18/2011 1:03:10 AM

  • by Reed via I289.photobucket 5/18/2011 1:03:19 AM

  • @reed agreed

  • tippycam is panning
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:10:45 AM

  • TEPCO told reporters that the barrier set up in the sea near the water intake of the No.3 reactor may be failing to prevent contaminated water from spreading.
The utility said it will use the mineral zeolite to remove radioactive cesium from the sea.
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 1:11:23 AM

  • is that fog coming in or a wave?
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:15:21 AM

  • ok teppy cam is making me nauseas...
    by NervousinNJ 5/18/2011 1:17:57 AM

  • ah ok much better... anyone know why we were focusing on the ocean for a minute?
    by NervousinNJ 5/18/2011 1:19:26 AM

  • what was that sweep to the south all about - like he was looking for something.
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:19:50 AM

  • @UKVal That's what it looked like to me too.
    by NervousinNJ 5/18/2011 1:20:13 AM

  • wonder if he was expecting to see the megafloat
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:21:06 AM

  • think there's a bank of fog on its way to shore
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:21:39 AM

  • @UKVal I'm a few days behind on the news, trying to catch up. Is the megafloat still happening?
    by NervousinNJ 5/18/2011 1:22:07 AM

  • @UKVal: You didn't see the Daiini plant?
    by DonnerT 5/18/2011 1:22:24 AM

  • I thought he was going to daini but the camera only paused at the plant so I dunno
    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 1:23:01 AM

  • Why would they have done that - shut off emergency cooling at unit 1?
    by Scilla 5/18/2011 1:23:46 AM

  • @elainekirk: Maybe some other kind of plant. I saw some stacks over a hill.
    by DonnerT 5/18/2011 1:24:33 AM

  • @DonnerT i don't think so - caught sight of something but don't think it was Dainii. You?
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:24:42 AM

  • And are we sure it's true, not just scapegoating,
    by Scilla 5/18/2011 1:25:09 AM

  • @NervousinNJ megafloat en route apparently
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:25:14 AM

  • @elainekirk The utility said it will use the mineral zeolite to remove radioactive cesium from the sea. what the whole sea??
    by UKVal 5/18/2011 1:26:31 AM

  • @UKVal: Didn't stay on it long enough to tell. It is only 11Km south.
