  • @estacion, Majj, Biggest problem we have at this time is guesstimating what shape that area is in? Since most of the reactors are leaking like a sieve, we don;t know if there are major cracks in the concrete down there ?? That could be a major factor on what the corium does, if it doesn't have to melt through the concrete, and just has to widen and follow some cracks to get to the bedrock, things are going to happen quicker ?? Just estimating that they said it took about 28 days for it to melt through the concrete when it finally got there. Rough guess, is that time is going to be up sometime before the end of this month ? (Insert your best guess here ?)

  • @bo TEPCO is assessing the situation at #2 now. I'm not sure if they have released anything as I have to go to work now. They always take their time, as you know. Apart from that they are continuing contaminated water transfer procedures and they have a 10,000 ton capacity (of water) barge in the vicinity to where contaminated water will be transferred in a near future. That's all for now.

  • I would think that some scientist in the know would be able to look at all the sensor readings over the past weeks, and see where things are at this time ??? Then again, they may know that and don't want to panic anyone ?

  • It now appears very likely that there was a prompt criticality or nuclear explosion at Fukushima in the period March 13-15. Using the Takasaki CTBTO data at www.cpdnp.jp we can see elevated levels of I-135 between Mar 15-17. According to Dr. Hiroaki Koide of Kyoto University, this supports the nuclear explosion theory onioni2.blogspot.com The very high concentrations of Xe-133 detected support this theory www.igse.net And finally, using the CTBTO's own criteria, the amounts of 1. Tc-99m (Mo-99 daughter product) 2. Te-132 & I-132 3. I-131 4. Ba-140 & La-140, found on Mar 16-17, in that order, indicate a nuclear explosion had occurred. www.nrl.moh.govt.nz

  • @Bo, noticed they went around the plant area and then straight out.
    by wtm 5/17/2011 6:58:24 PM

  • @wtm yeah, I wondered if that was intentional. @elainekirk, you should come to Japan, come visit Hiroshima!
    by bo 5/17/2011 7:00:01 PM

  • @Bo, take your counter with you, woul;d have been interesting to see what readings were all the way ?
    by wtm 5/17/2011 7:00:46 PM

  • @wtm yes, as they threw me off the plane. My wife will come next week and meet me in Germany, she asked if I thought she should bring the geiger counter and do readings in the airport. But I am a great believer in avoiding being held by police for any reason.
