  • @Nancy, that is sort of what I am seeing, the design engineers sort of thought the RPV weight would just let the unit sit there and not move ? But then again, these are the same people who designed the SFP. The rods can sit there and NOT move !!!
    by wtm 5/25/2011 7:00:42 PM

  • @wtm went there on pc, backed out all i can do is screw it up more... time to have someone look at it .... i just got released from mod the other day then it locked up
    by fitter 5/25/2011 7:01:29 PM

  • Think its getting targeted... thats not normal cam behaviour
    by WolfDK 5/25/2011 7:01:54 PM

  • @Fitter, what area you in, I can recommend where to get a new Hard Drive. I purchased a copy of Avanquest "Disk copy and clean" software, it allows you to completely copy the old hard drive to a larger, newer hard drive, and then you just swap in the new one. Everything is there, it boots up as normal. Has worked great, I have upgraded several cpu's now with it.

  • fog + sunrise + cam's
    gain switch stepped
    by estacion 5/25/2011 7:04:23 PM

  • @estacion possible
but have never seen a cam do that color madness before
    by WolfDK 5/25/2011 7:06:27 PM

  • @WolfDK Hudebnik has a wikispaces link pinned above relating to some of Tippycam's observed oddities, including a mention of the pink/blue transition which has been seen before at sunrise and sunset.
    by es 5/25/2011 7:12:32 PM

  • @WolfDK Pink/blue transition in morning and blue/pink transition at night is an IR Cut Filter on the webcam. Not mysterious.
    by jt 5/25/2011 7:14:27 PM

  • @fitter, either go into your Windows Explorer and start deleting old programs or anything in the "TEMP' directory, then go to the "Recycle bin" and empty it. (that might be your current problem, that has not been emptied). That will open up some space for you. Don't put off getting this problem fixed as the cpu will start writing things on top of other things that it needs to run the computer, and then it will really not work, and you will have major repair needed.
    by wtm 5/25/2011 7:21:31 PM

  • @jt,That seems to be one expensive cam they have up there. I know the zoom on it is got to be quite long, as it is at least 20km away from the plant.
    by wtm 5/25/2011 7:26:58 PM

  • @jt -- Thanks for mentioning the blue/pink due to cut filters. It is indeed a well known, documented, thing.
    by Markfm 5/25/2011 7:27:02 PM

  • closer to 30km... and really clear for the level of zoom they're using.
    by radioguy 5/25/2011 7:31:35 PM

  • @Radioguy, especially all the special filtering they have on it, got to be real expensive broadcast quality cam ?
    by wtm 5/25/2011 7:32:29 PM

  • Good lens, but not too outrageous. We work with Fujinon D60 lenses at work -- 60x zoom, built in 2X teleconverter, switchable IR filter. They run about $20K, and on a 1/2" imager the FOV at 30km is 128 x 96 m -- that's pretty hefty :) Leaving the teleconverter switched out still leaves an FOV of 256 x 192 m.
    by Markfm 5/25/2011 7:43:40 PM

  • Will have the video up of the light show, in about 30 minutes.
    by deb 5/25/2011 7:44:03 PM

  • @wtm don't know what type of camara we own just take the pics, but we were 6.2 miles from the shuttle launch pad and it took great photos... you could see the flame below the platform on the pics
    by fitter 5/25/2011 7:46:56 PM

  • @fitter, when I was in the Air Force national guard did our 2 weeks at the air base there, and got to take a tour of the shuttle, since we were military, got to go up underneath the shuttle and actually touch it. Looked right up the bottom of those engines. Huge !!!!
    by wtm 5/25/2011 7:49:42 PM

  • @wtm amazing piece of equipment, have watched them launch from a distance... we were on what they call the causway... on nasa/airforce property,, don't know which... busses took us there
    by fitter 5/25/2011 7:51:29 PM

  • @wtm talk about thermael expansion???? thats for the info on pc.. deleted recycle bin for now
    by fitter 5/25/2011 7:52:32 PM

  • @fitter, huge base, didn't know there was multiple launch sites there until we saw them. The 747 that the shuttle is transported on when it lands anywhere else than Florida, is parked south of Phoenix at a little airport. (CIA base)
@wtm how does fitter bring up the graphic that shows his disc space? I am thinking a walk through step by step may be needed if disc space low.so if you could talk through getting a figure and we go from there?

  • @wtm shame to see the program retired, the original fleet needed retired but they should have built a second greneration

  • Report: 'Unacceptable threat' from spent-fuel pools at US nuclear power plants
Overcrowded spent-fuel pools at US nuclear power plants pose an 'unacceptable threat to the public,' says risk assessor. Much of the leaked radiation from Japan's stricken Fukushima Daiichi came from spent-fuel pools.

    by deb 5/25/2011 9:25:48 PM

  • @Nancy Feel your misery on these monsters spewing every day into the air. I have rain today, and forecast for a few more days. It is a horrible feeling to be "afraid" of the rain and wonder just how much the air is poisoned.
