  • that's some letter elaine, makes me tear and anger.... you remember way back when we composed a letter to be sent to the fukushima TEPCO and government... maybe we should re-create the letter, update it and send it off. or.. start some kind of petition like we added our names to.. ty elaine

  • Getting a bit cluttered.
    by Markfm 5/27/2011 12:20:43 PM

  • @elainekirk @dean I've just read the letter. I think sending it to news orgs with a list of our names is a good idea. I was planning to send t on to news orgs in Uk, but I think it would have more force if a long list of names were attached. How can we do this? So far I've just posted it on FB.
    by UKVal 5/27/2011 12:24:07 PM

  • @ukval please add my name
    by elainekirk 5/27/2011 12:27:40 PM

  • @elainekirk just a suggestion, I would guess there are or bo could get a similar letter from a person willing to put thier name to it.... it would carry more weight... I also like deans suggestion and @ukval how do we find you on FB? (also don't know why this cp opens goggle doc's but the little one doesn't)???
    by fitter 5/27/2011 12:49:37 PM

  • @UKVal now that we have a name we could do a press release and send it to the news desk of whatever media outlet you think it would be used at. I haven't written a press release in years but I think there are templates online or go somewhere like PRweb.com and see how others are written. Add my name to it too.

"Although the English Yomiuri website summarizes the key points of Nishioka’s letter in the same article I linked to above, they did not originally post the entire text or even publish it in the English print edition, although they did promise that “The English translation of Nishioka’s open letter to Kan will be carried on The Daily Yomiuri’s Commentary page on Tuesday.” Well, Tuesday has passed and you can now read the entire letter in English, at Yomiuri or below here."

  • Hi folks, a brief break from my conference.
    by bo 5/27/2011 2:49:14 PM

  • I have been forwarded some information from a resident in Tokyo claiming they are on the verge of a water issue. He mentions a number of water treatment facilities that have been closed due to radiation contamination in the water. He says that many of the water sources for Tokyo are in Gunma where radiation is known to be in significant levels. His concern that between the typhoon and the rainy season more of the contamination will run off into the rivers and other water sources. The person that forwarded this on to me, I asked to see if the person who sent it could get some evidence off the web for us. If you see anything online hinting at water contamination please make sure I see it so we can see if this is actually an issue or not.
