  • I have that. We were collecting signatures. I need the link for that. Or has that not been done yet?
    by radioguy 5/30/2011 8:46:26 PM

  • @radioguy I have a ( rather short) list as I'm collecting them via email. How do I send it to you? Need lots more. Will people be able to sign on the website & if so how do we know these are real people & not double entries?
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 8:49:23 PM

  • pointscope01.jp
@UKVal If you click on the TEPPY link and follow it, then you'll get the jpg, not the cgi that calls it.

  • @UKVal They might have found out recently after routine check-ups. These two workers had been working through March and April so they were only checked up sometime along May. That would explain why only now that information has been released. Considering all the mayhem that is happening around Japan it is not surprising that it would take a couple of weeks to get those workers checked up and then it takes time to have the samples thoroughly analysed and finally the information can only be released after the workers allow it to be. The time frame seems quite reasonable.

  • @radioguy thanks for tip re uploading webcam pic
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 8:51:14 PM

  • @UKVal OK... I'll change the mention for the time being while we work it out. You can post the new TEPPYcam in 8 minutes :)
    by radioguy 5/30/2011 8:52:31 PM

  • @elainekirk "have been found in the thyroid glands" I think it means that it was internal contamination acquired by one or more the following vectors:
    - Respirator mask failure.
    - Malpractice when sheathing or take out the protective suit.
    - Contaminated water or/and food.
    - Breaching of the safety zone.
    by estacion 5/30/2011 8:52:56 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus ok. You may be right. My anxiety was about ensuring they had speedy access to health care.
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 8:53:17 PM

  • @radioguy I'll try to post the pic!! Learning a lot of stuff about IT as well as nuke plants here.. .
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 8:54:43 PM

  • @esttacion yes I agree with you and @ukval your concerns are well founded . Any worker being asked to work in chemical etc conditions should have bloods etc taken asap for type matching etc should the need arise plus it provides a base line to work against when assessing exposure - as it is Teppco when they poopoo'ed stem cell storage
""TEPCO headquarters said “We control the radiation level so that it is under 250 mSv, therefore, we do not want to use HSC banking at this time." www.savefukushima50.org
they played a blinder because now none of those workers can prove categorically that a cancer developed after exposure
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 8:54:55 PM

  • @elainekirk that is outrageous, but sadly par for the course as far as hazardous industries go

  • by UKVal edited by elainekirk 5/30/2011 9:03:52 PM

  • thought I'd got it... but no still can't work out how to upload the TEPCO cam pic
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 9:06:24 PM

  • Acording to NHK Newsline the workers have been diagnosed by whole body counter.
    by estacion 5/30/2011 9:08:16 PM

  • scrolled back thorough, and I can't quite tell...are we for all intents and purposes, essentially out of the water a bit as far as the Typhoon Songda prospects are concerned?
    by wrshpr 5/30/2011 9:10:05 PM

  • @ukval nuclear is on the news!! tis only Germany but it is being mentioned
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 9:10:40 PM

  • @wrshpr it is being held in reserve lest tepco need the rain upgrading to enable a 'we are very sorry but it washed all our radiation into the ocean' news release
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 9:12:35 PM

  • @UKVal OK...now follow your own link, right click and choose save image url, then paste that.
    by radioguy 5/30/2011 9:13:00 PM

  • pointscope01.jp @radioguy it doesnt appear to work for us UK'ers never has for me either with tepco though it does normally with other sites
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 9:13:49 PM

  • @elainekirk you too :) follow your link, then do as below for ukval
    by radioguy 5/30/2011 9:14:57 PM

  • Really...some UK thing?
    by radioguy 5/30/2011 9:15:54 PM

  • @elainekirk They find the radioactivity via "whole Body Internal Monitoring". This article says they found "9,760 and 7,690 becquerels of iodine-131 in the thyroid glands of the workers"., and that it was probably early exposure at the plant. This internally deposited radioactivity will have a dose calulated for it, complicated but fairly routine. This internal dose will be combined with their external dose, The external exposure levels of the two workers were between 74 and 89 millisieverts, the plant operator known as TEPCO said mdn.mainichi.jp to come up with the workers Committed Effective Dose, and that will be their assigned "legal" dose.

  • @RadioGuy & Edano. I have a work around figured out to solve these formatting issues for the reactor stats pages. Should have it done tomorrow and will let you both know what changed and what parts impact your work in any way if it does. :-)
    by Nancy 5/30/2011 9:30:48 PM

  • @radioguy I have a fix for his, it will move to a different type of page outside Wordpress but I have a couple of things to do to work it back into the group site fairly seamlessly. Maybe change the template for now on edano's page
    by Nancy 5/30/2011 9:33:00 PM
