  • Notice the top of the right tower
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:40:02 PM

  • @elainekirk ty for that. very interesting.
    by Edano 5/30/2011 10:40:56 PM

  • @edano deleted your cam image as I couldnt bear to delete vals first ever posting of the image in all its glory
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 10:42:16 PM

  • @wtm I am going with rain on the camera giving the perception of black smoke.
    by Angie 5/30/2011 10:42:20 PM

  • @elainekirk Bloomberg article: "When asked to comment on the report today, Tokyo Electric spokesman Tetsuya Terasawa said the radiation levels are in line with those found after a nuclear bomb test, which disperses plutonium. He declined to comment further." Yep, #3 explosion was nuclear. Similar isotope ratios to a Chinese bomb test in 1976.
    by Bobby1 5/30/2011 10:42:28 PM

  • @elainekirk ty - my 1 success today!
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 10:43:47 PM

  • @Angie, thought of that, don't think so, I think it is heavy black smoke, dumping out, wind pushes it to the right, but because it is heavy, it falls toward ground,
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:44:03 PM

  • @Angie, my monitor had clearer pic, can see it is dense around the top of the tower.
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:44:50 PM

  • @Bobby1 : the truth is creeping thru all the holes. we are in for bad news for the next years.
    by Edano 5/30/2011 10:45:34 PM

  • @wtm You maybe right! I am lucky I dont see fairies and rainbows in it.......I am pretty bad when it comes to pictures! lol
    by Angie 5/30/2011 10:45:46 PM

  • @wtm I don't think it's rain either -though rain could be distorting the image there - but smoke doesn't do that unless there's a hole in the stack lower down?
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 10:45:53 PM

  • @UKVal : with heavy wind it does that.
    by Edano 5/30/2011 10:46:22 PM

  • @Bobby1 Re Bloomberg article - wow!
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 10:46:45 PM

  • I posted that article whilst reading it and must admit I reread it to make sure all references were there because it is so scary!
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 10:46:55 PM

  • by elainekirk 5/30/2011 10:47:30 PM

  • @UKVal, it looks like it is coming off the top of the stack, up slightly, wind is blowing it toward the right, and then gravity is taking over and making it fall. It is then dissipating as it falls.
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:47:49 PM

  • Rain around the rest of the pic is NOT black, that is not rain up there.
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:49:51 PM

  • The tepco cam is supposed to be going live today so they announce a few hrs ago
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 10:50:56 PM

  • Wonder what pipes they still had hooked up to that stack, so we could figure out where it originates from ?
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:50:57 PM

  • << “Basically, the way in which the current zones have been drawn up aren’t a concern in terms of the impact on health,” said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano. >> sentence of the day !
    by Edano 5/30/2011 10:51:14 PM

  • that stack is near the common sfp
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 10:51:34 PM

  • @Elaine, I would assume that several execs at TEPCO, and lawyers are going to try and halt that idea ?
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:51:40 PM

  • @UJVAL, that stack had pipes to the common and all 4 reactors, it had 5 pipes on it.
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:52:21 PM

  • @wtm yes I remember the 5 pipes, but didn't know that it was linked to the reactors..
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 10:53:31 PM

  • @UKVal, it is the backup tower for all the reactors.
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:54:29 PM

  • @wtm I think tepco are hoping tbs will take theirs down if they go live and then of course tepco could stage manage what we see. You can bet there has been a lot of pressure on tbs to stop streaming
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 10:54:50 PM

  • @elainekirk : was it tbs that shot the reactor explosions ? if so, they must have been observing the plant since long.
by Edano edited by Edano 5/30/2011 10:56:02 PM

  • @Elaine, you betcha !!!
    by wtm 5/30/2011 10:56:22 PM

  • You can be sure that there is plutonium in the rubble of #3. How much of it has disappeared over the last few weeks? Every steam & smoke show lifts up the dust from the building and disperses it.
    by Bobby1 5/30/2011 10:58:47 PM

  • Re Bloomberg article "The utility on April 17 set out a so-called road map to end the crisis in six to nine months. Tepco said it expects to achieve a sustained drop in radiation levels at the plant within three months, followed by a cold shutdown, where core reactor temperatures fall below 100 degrees Celsius." How the hell do Tepco still get away with calling it cold shutdown when its a meltdown?? www.bloomberg.com
    by Angie 5/30/2011 11:01:12 PM

  • @Angie this is cryptical speaking. they mean years when they say months.
    by Edano 5/30/2011 11:02:52 PM

  • @angie thats a very good question @edano rofpmsl!
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 11:03:01 PM

  • Just a thought re 'Plutonium detected in Ikata, Ehime Prefecture -there are nuke plants in that area - could it have gone from 1 of them? -seems so far from Fuku
    by UKVal 5/30/2011 11:03:20 PM

  • I can see they will drive me to having a rant today...........4hrs sleep does not make for a happy girl! Add to that the Tepco BS for the day! @Edano lmao! But the sad thing is it is soooo very true! If only they would be honest! If I am frustrated I cant begin to think what the poor people are that live there!
    by Angie 5/30/2011 11:06:49 PM

  • @Tenzing - hi I've posted a reply on there

Plan drafted to provide compensation for radiation rumors
    www.asahi.com
The administration of Prime Minister Naoto Kan has already formed the framework for TEPCO's compensation payments. But bills needed to implement the plan have no prospect of being submitted to the Diet soon.
