NEED TO RUN to the office for awhile. will return.. great morning @ all
by dean 6/15/2011 3:43:10 PM

@MaryW Thanks. These are still not what was claimed in those articles & videos. Looks like the NRC upped both events one level after the fact. Interesting they don't add these to the event pages.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 3:43:44 PM

Looking at those NRC documents it looks like they updated the fire to an alert (second level up) at some point. It still is nowhere in the realm claimed in that article.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 3:49:58 PM

@panser if they have identified high rad areas then they should move people those children have a lifetime (hopefully) ahead of them why risk waiting they pee me off
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:08:37 PM

@elainekirk They seem to be dragging their feet on purpose. They evacuated around the plant in hours. Now they can't do an evacuation somewhere else without it taking months?
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:09:40 PM

@MaryW What is your point.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:09:50 PM

@nancy 'do not want to cause panic' I am losing respect for the Japanese anministration and the IAES etc and gaining even morerespect for the Japanese people
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:13:15 PM

@elainekirk So evacuating people who clearly need to is "causing panic". Not buying it. What is the real reason? Out of space? Costs? Having to admit how wide spread the disaster really is?
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:14:51 PM

@nancy compensation , liability
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:17:33 PM

@nancy they will be hoping the wind changes direction.
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:18:06 PM

@nancy I posted earlier about a cardboard factory reopening they have made a 'curtain ' of zeolite so the workers will be not breathing radiation in the factory !!!!!!
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:19:27 PM

@elainekirk They will likely end up paying more compensation later than if they evacuated people before they are harmed more. Sadly the govt. actions will be funded by the taxpayers.
I saw that zeolite curtain article last night. I thought I was in need of sleep, it seemed so illogicial.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:20:07 PM

coming soon to your breakfast table 'self illuminating cereal boxes'
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:20:27 PM

@nancy very difficult to prove the cancers it is just the property relocation compo they trying to keep down
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:21:25 PM

@nancy did you do a news round up?
by elainekirk 6/15/2011 4:24:39 PM

@elainekirk Russia did a big job on people related to later health claims. They excused them away and left lots of sick and dieing without any help. The disconnect between the govt. and the people is pretty stunning. Comments I got from people in Japan was that the govt. was in melt down.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:25:02 PM

@elainekirk Getting ready to post it. Most of what I have are news posts from last night on worker safety. Any new ones from recent hours I should add?
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:25:45 PM

15 June vs. 14 June plant parameters. #1 showing flat to slight rise in temps, though only one reading > 100C (RPV feed nozzle at 113C), CAMS slight decrease. #2 is also flat to slight increase, temps below 108C. #3 is a different animal, even with continued water injection of over 11 cubic meters/hour temps are at best flat or slightly rising, in the 152 - 164C range.
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:31:11 PM

@Edano LOL - what a concept. Maybe they should have done that all along.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:34:34 PM

"some utilities are installing equipment that can rip holes in reactor buildings to remove hydrogen" A year from now we'll read about the systems, installed by the lowest price contractor, accidentally going off and tearing holes in the buildings...
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:35:37 PM

@Edano Have to love headlines that come with the sarcasm built in.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:35:39 PM

@Markfm Can I put your plant parameters into the news roundup?
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:36:25 PM

Sure
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:37:11 PM

NHK stories carried in today’s JAIF Earthquake Report: (Fukushima NPP Site) ●Test begins on French decontamination device ●TEPCO to cover reactor with polyester sheets ●Plutonium detected in Fukushima plant soil ●TEPCO begins testing cesium removing device (Other news) ●Nuclear plants to improve power board safety ●Tokyo to measure radiation at 100 locations ●Lawyers to form anti-nuclear national group ●Nuke operators plan to prevent severe accidents ●Radioactive material in sludge at 16 prefectures ●White paper calls for review of quake response
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:39:30 PM

BTW, the group site is getting about 400-500 views a day now.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:43:41 PM

I do wonder how well those 1mm thick covers will stand up to cyclones, or perhaps TEPCO has already written the "we apologize" statement for when they blow away in the wind.
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:48:05 PM

@Markfm Me too. Even fabrics intended for outdoor use can get trashed in bad weather. Stadium domes, outdoor large awning structures etc.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:51:07 PM

Hi fitter -- I'm sure you're right, but with TEPCO's history of everything leaking I just assume something will be botched with the sheeting.
by Markfm 6/15/2011 4:56:49 PM

@MaryW So what is your point? I know this. I have been bringing up the risks about the SFP and Calhoun not having enough flood control for weeks.
Um everything I have put in that article had a factual source to back it up. Not sure what your on about.
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:57:35 PM

@Peter Melzer That is what I envisioned...
by lillymunster 6/15/2011 4:59:51 PM

Maybe they'll draw an outline on the wall, "Cut Here"
