  • @elainekirk btw - this site is an auto payment to my master card - which got me thinking that when I got the email from tech support about closing the site for maintenance - they didn't because I had an auto payment set up and they had a payment for that month.
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:01:38 AM

    by elainekirk 7/2/2011 11:04:00 AM

  • no worries - its only 24.95 a month - i'm glad to do it.
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:04:55 AM

  • @George Gibb thank you :) Tepco setting up a company to buy energy to sell to tepco stinks of money laundering don't you think?
    by elainekirk 7/2/2011 11:06:53 AM

  • either that or the profit they'll make may offset some of the costs
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:08:23 AM

  • @George Gibb yup
    by elainekirk 7/2/2011 11:09:26 AM

  • actually it sounds like they're morphing into another company using funds from TEPco - I'd like to see the loophole for that
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:11:09 AM

  • I was just watching that au 60 minutes doc posted on SimplyInfo - good one
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:13:29 AM

  • @George Gibb they say they have got to wait till the diet put the legislation in place for them to start paying compensation so it all adds up to a lets shift the funds and leave the compo to the taxpayer
I am amazed how @lilly & co keep up with the simplyinfo site there is always something new
    by elainekirk 7/2/2011 11:15:04 AM

  • yes its scary that the tax payers end up flipping the bill for these mega disasters.
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:16:43 AM

  • On Thursday I got a lesson in how the Canadian legal system protects large companies from wrong doing. It truly shocked me how corrupt the system actually is.
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 11:19:25 AM

  • @George Gibb governments, legal systems etc work for the big companies not the citizens
    by elainekirk 7/2/2011 11:21:27 AM

  • www.tepco.co.jp Cleanup work by using a robot in Unit 3 Reactor Building at Fukushima Daiichi Power Station I have to go out for a couple of hours , hope everybody is enjoying the holiday weekend :)

by George Gibb 7/2/2011 1:19:26 PM

  • @lillymunster I took some time this morning to look at the other site - AWESOME JOB!
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 1:20:34 PM

  • @George Gibb Thanks, we are working on putting a new theme on it so we can display more articles and info all at once on the home page. We have so much content coming in that we have to decide what ends up on the home page. Veenie and Elaine have been doing a great job using twitter to drive people to the site. We had a couple of other sites pick up our original content.
    by lillymunster 7/2/2011 1:22:22 PM

  • George.. I would like to have permission to send a gift certificate to lilly and elaine for dinner for 2.. they have surpassed every level of excellence in every way in support of the simplyinfo, here, twitter, facebook .... so now.. just to figure out how to make that happen.. elaine.. lilly.. .do you have paypal? or how could I do this... also.. I would like to do the same for Edano
    by dean 7/2/2011 1:31:29 PM

  • www.tepco.co.jp @lilly and elaine.. this table shows some interesting observations to me, I guess I haven't been plugged in that much to detail out the daini situation...
    by dean 7/2/2011 1:34:04 PM

  • @dean Right on Dean!
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 1:40:57 PM

  • Safety tips - don't use the weed wacker while wearing shorts lol
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 1:42:02 PM

  • @dean looking at it now. Daini has been taking advantage of everyone being focused on Daiichi
    by lillymunster 7/2/2011 1:42:11 PM

  • @George Gibb LOL! I have the scar to prove it! :-)
    by lillymunster 7/2/2011 1:42:23 PM

  • I just earned my darwin award lol
by George Gibb 7/2/2011 1:43:09 PM

  • @Dean, hmm. I was not aware of those failures. We should ask Elaine if they sound familiar to her. I know there was a small leak somewhere at one point and they have seawater still standing in building areas. They were asking permission to pump it out months later.
by lillymunster edited by dean 7/2/2011 1:46:25 PM

  • unit 1, residual heat removal system (RHR) A disabled due to earthquake, RHR B lost but later restored to service 1:24 March 14th, Emergency power supplied by B emergency generator (EG) at unit 2 and B EG at unit 3, no venting from building noted, and s lost due to earthquake, unit B RHR system resorted, at 5:35 March 11th reactor coolant has leaked due to pressure increase in reactor containment vessel then later at 6:23 was reported no reactor cooland has leaked.. (that was fast and i wonder how they snapped to that decision in less than one hour), 6:33 pm march 11 reported that reactor cooling function is lost, 5:22 a.m. march 12 function of suppression chamber is lost, 10:15 a.m. march 14 suppression chamber temperature less than 100C , 10:07 march 14 radiation levels increase at boundary, 9:30 a.m. April 3 site boundary radiation levels down to 5 micro Sv
    by dean 7/2/2011 1:52:26 PM

  • They also have some contaminated water they were asking to release.
    by lillymunster 7/2/2011 1:54:03 PM

  • this tells me they lost RHR capability, Relief valves probably lifted so many times to keep pressure under control that they heated the suppression chamber until it was not functional, not a mention of the vessel level but from the other units at daichi, we know the level was not maintained. "if" there was fuel damage, the hydrogen may not have been enough to accumulate and explode, at least nothing reported and they did say they did not vent the building(if that is right). my suspicion is, significant damage to the RHR system and probably other systems, they could mentioned what battery source they had and what emergency core cooling they had but they omitted that so assumed it wasn't functional either, I would say.. not good for unit 1 at daini...
    by dean 7/2/2011 1:58:18 PM

  • @dean sounds like they were close to a disaster too. Even with generators.
    by lillymunster 7/2/2011 1:59:47 PM

  • yes @lilly.. I would like to see the electrical schematic drawing showing how units 2 and 3 provide emergency diesel power to unit 1... that would act to over
load those generators, they are huge generators but do have capacity limits.
    by dean 7/2/2011 2:02:01 PM

  • @dean it was pointed out that 5-6 are sharing a generator. Not sure if that is still the case but the up high back up unit for 6 was switching back and forth to run cooling at 5 then 6. Elaine might know details better. So possibly some similar situation? Are they still using the generators? It looked like they had grid power.
