  • The gist of those pages is concerning if the translations are right. Does anyone know if they were able to get the concrete pillars poured yet?
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 1:55:13 AM

  • Happy Hiroshima 4th of July all
    by bo 7/4/2011 1:55:26 AM

  • Hi Bo!

@all, I checked the water level for 4's sfp. Still at 400mm.
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 1:57:33 AM

  • And 86degrees lilly
I think i just had a rational thought the damage to #4 roof that blast at 3 will have created a shockwave cappable of impacting the roof maybe and the ground mothion added to the wave would have given the sfp a battering maybe
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:04:00 AM

  • @bo hi good to see you
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:04:45 AM

  • Looks like lots of good work going on here, especially for a holiday weekend (in the US)!
    by bo 7/4/2011 2:08:13 AM

  • Hi all! It looks like the TBS cam live event has ended again.
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:13:53 AM

  • @elainekirk that would be possible too. There is also the possible fissure past the end of #4. Something else I noticed last week was that the area you wondered if there was a fissure in the ground past 4 lines up with the crack in the facade of #4. There is a crack that runs from the ground off to the sea side of the building up at an angle. Where the crack meets the ground is about where the low spots under the big metal plates on the ground are.
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 2:14:47 AM

  • @lillymunster I saw a tweet today from a good source saying the contamination was now miles underground I suppose with those fissures that may not be too much of an exageration
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:20:17 AM

  • @LM were you getting a good view from it when it ended ?
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:21:00 AM

  • @Elaine Unfortunately I didn't have it loaded when I went to look...and got the live event ended message.
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:23:00 AM

  • My TBS cam still working, just saw a bird but I get an error message if I try to open it in a new tab.
    by cat 7/4/2011 2:27:49 AM

  • @LM do we have a tepco cam shot from the start of te live feed ?
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:29:14 AM

  • @elaine The Tepco cam live feed is still going. Do you mean a still image?
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:39:18 AM

  • yup old one
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:39:46 AM

  • @Elaine I don't have the link to the hourly still photo anymore.
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:40:50 AM

  • @LM never mind I should be going to sleep anyway it is nearly 4 am . see you all in a few hrs :)
    by elainekirk 7/4/2011 2:43:02 AM

  • @Elaine Night! I'm sure we'll get a new link to the TBS feed...it happens once a month.
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:44:17 AM

  • Why is my live feed still working?
    by cat 7/4/2011 2:45:54 AM

  • @cat can you post the web address your using?
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 2:46:58 AM

  • Not much to see anyway just rolling fog
    by cat 7/4/2011 2:47:25 AM

  • Ugh, the dog has decided he doesn't like fireworks...gonna be a long night.
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 2:48:32 AM

  • It's the usual one. It won't work in new tab, but the one I already had open is still working.
    by cat 7/4/2011 2:48:53 AM

  • @ hi This cam tbs/jnn works I think: radioactive.eu.com
    by Mona 7/4/2011 2:51:59 AM

  • That's strange, now I have 2 running but they are not the same. The one I have had open for hours is much foggier. But they are both definately running
    by cat 7/4/2011 2:56:37 AM

  • This one shows as a live event on their youtube page and works www.youtube.com
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 2:58:06 AM

  • @Lilly Thanks!
    by LM 7/4/2011 2:59:06 AM

  • Thank you Mona!! Really works here. Stripped YouTube link www.youtube.com

  • @ Greenpeace interviewed by RT: Jan Beranek, who is with a team of Greenpeace activists investigating the fallout from the Fukushima nuclear disaster, says Japanese are encouraged to return to their normal lives unaware of the dangers they face in the contaminated area.

"I personally find it very disturbing, because on the one hand you see the Japanese authorities forcing people and society to get back to normal... And yet at the same time there are still extremely high levels of radiation and the contamination of the soil, and also potentially in the food," the activist told RT. "This is just unbelievable because at those levels of exposure it certainly poses a risk to the lives and health of the people.

If you draw a parallel to the Chernobyl disaster, then actually the Soviets decided to evacuate everyone living in the place, where radiation was three or four times lower than what we see in Fukushima City today,

  • Is there a daily record of fuel-pool levels, esp for SFP3?
    by Ian 7/4/2011 3:09:13 AM

  • About the cameras - they have often- when I have looked at them- not been syncrone, one shows sun and the other grey...? So they can't both be "Live",? Hmmm.. sceptic.. ;) or what is your impression?
    by Mona 7/4/2011 3:12:18 AM

  • @Ian In the stuck posts is Mark's daily plant parameters. You can shorten the URL to get just the METI press page but then you need google translate to read. Go to the daily earthquake update. In that page you will see links at the bottom that go to the PDF for plant parameters. Let me know if you get stuck
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 3:13:51 AM

  • @Mona Keep in mind that TBS cam is about 20 km far from Fukushima, wether has a big effect in its image quality.
    by estacion 7/4/2011 3:17:54 AM

  • @lillymunster, thanks! :)
    by Ian 7/4/2011 3:18:10 AM

  • Fukushima= Daiichi intended
    by estacion 7/4/2011 3:18:30 AM

  • @Estacion didn't know this could make so big difference that it looks like evening when it is daylight. So ty for info.
    by Mona 7/4/2011 3:22:45 AM

  • @lillymunster, what about historic pool-level data? I'm looking for the SFP3 level on May 8th, that's the day the camera went in. I need to make sure the level wasn't far lower than the top, because what seems like the edge of the pool at the beginning of the SFP3 video has pool space and debris under it, so the concrete at the beginning of the video is over the pool. ??! So we can't be sure this concrete a true measure of the top of the pool.
    by Ian 7/4/2011 3:28:20 AM

  • Meant to include www.youtube.com in case anyone wants to confirm what I'm saying, that the assumed concrete 'edge' is actually over the pool, not its true edge.

  • Japan Govt Edano: Not Aware Of Reported Secret Meetings About Tepco Breakup

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Japan's top government spokesman said Monday that he is not aware of an alleged series of secret meetings between government officials and the chairman of Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501.TO) as reported in the local media over the weekend.

"I'm not aware of any facts," said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano, referring to a report in the Mainichi Shimbun on Sunday that government officials and Tepco had secretly discussed the breakup of the company and the nationalization of its nuclear power business.

When asked about the possible nationalization of Tepco, Edano said, "In the current plan submitted to the Diet, the government will indirectly obtain Tepco stocks, this means that the plan is a partial and temporary nationalization."

  • @Ian You should be able to scroll back into archives at METI to find the daily data for the day in May you need. They are all on this page if you scroll way down www.meti.go.jp
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 3:32:47 AM

  • @mona. I deffinately had 2 TBS cam sites open showing different images. Bird flying across one, fog rolling in front of view on one. Usually they show the swme if I open 2 tabs, but I also wonder sometimes how real-time live the cams are.
    by cat 7/4/2011 3:43:55 AM

  • @cat if you stop and start the feed without reloading the page you will get old footage
    by lillymunster 7/4/2011 3:45:37 AM

  • @lillymunster, I found some plant parameters in English on Tepco's site, but it seems they don't keep measure of SFP levels, just SFP temps. I thought for sure I saw someone here (I think it was Elaine) recently say they checked the SFP level of 4.
    by Ian 7/4/2011 3:49:46 AM

  • Does anyone know if an edge of the SFPs extends over the pool?
