Early on, when this all started, I remember seeing a shot that showed massive road damage, behind the reactors, 2-3 foot lift. Think it was one of my first posts on this board, a long, long time ago

that's amazing capture elaine did... wow
by dean 7/3/2011 1:26:08 PM

so many loose high voltage cabling visible .. returning power would have been very interesting to see those lines sparking until a breaker tripped.
by dean 7/3/2011 1:27:18 PM

the mystery is still out there isn't it? what crashed through the roof of the one building..
by dean 7/3/2011 1:32:05 PM

@dean what building? Four?
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 1:33:57 PM

#3 over on the adjoining building top. where the penetration was
by dean 7/3/2011 1:35:01 PM

@ Lilly I sent you details by mail of two tweeters before I. Came out you need to read probably right up to 24 hrrrs ago to get a picture plus the fewer workers in that significant? I am sitting at festival looking out over islands eating ice cream and still cant resist popping in to see you all
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 1:53:08 PM

@elainekirk LOL. Thanks. I saw the email. Will get them added as I get to tweets today. Currently trying to assemble an article for the group site that combines the two Atlantic articles and the AP article on the quake damage and bad maintenance at FUKU.

off to drive people to service who can't drive...
by dean 7/3/2011 2:10:16 PM

Have a good one Dean.
@All, I finished an article that combines the information in the Atlantic articles and the WSJ article. It combines the witness accounts of the quake damage and plant events along with some of the info in the WSJ article about the flawed design.

(Reuters) - A pipeline operated by Exxon Mobil Corp leaked as many as 1,000 barrels of crude oil into the Yellowstone River in Montana and has been shut down, the company said.

I had hoped to be able to pull some screen shots of the #4 explosion video Ian posted this morning. The quality of the video is so low plus the original recording was bad like someone made a video of their tv. If anyone determines what TV station the broadcast came from we might be able to contact them and ask for footage.
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 5:38:40 PM

The spraying hose from this morning was unit 5 being without heat removal for 3.5 hours
ex-skf.blogspot.comby lillymunster 7/3/2011 5:55:27 PM

@lillymunster not good is it that that hose split like that
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 5:59:04 PM

by elainekirk 7/3/2011 6:04:57 PM

@elainekirk I didn't realize 5 was on a rigged system. I thought it was undamaged...
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 6:08:00 PM

Hmm was that #3 survey after the vacuum cleaning?
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 6:09:59 PM

the split had a diameter of 30cm and width of 7cm now do those figure correspond to tepco's photo of the leaking pipe??? www.tepco.co.jp leaking pipe pic here www.tepco.co.jp
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 6:10:06 PM

are there 2 leaks?
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 6:11:34 PM

@lillymunster #3 from todays doc dump
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 6:13:37 PM

@elainekirk I think only one leak being that red hose spewing everywhere.
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 6:17:20 PM

have to run to town for a bit, will check in when I return.
by lillymunster 7/3/2011 6:17:45 PM

the diagram below says 30cm diameter 7cm wide those figures dont visually seem to fit this leak?
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 6:22:33 PM

@Veenie good to see the story is not going to go away
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 7:04:20 PM

@RadioGuy they have big problems now cos they sure aint got any good news stories to deflect the flack
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 7:11:34 PM

@Ian ty so they had transferred to majority of the reactor fuel from little to big at the time of the quake?
by elainekirk 7/3/2011 7:36:13 PM

@Veenie and here is the disclaimer
", U.S. government experts have concluded that the Government of Japan has the resources and technical capabilities to identify and quarantine contaminated food and water before they reach consumers"
