I also think that doing what each message would be Jimau died from heat I probably will not like this creature. (^^), I also think our ethics as well as serious soul-searching workers @ Labenderpit : consideration of our people in a harsh environment in Fukushima nuclear power plant workers are thankful every day that stress
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:42:51 AM

Back at home all, or at least what we call home now.
by bo 7/10/2011 11:04:03 AM

@bo tepco are now charging the workers for food some arent eating
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 11:05:24 AM

by bo 7/10/2011 11:08:42 AM

Why am I not surprised?
by bo 7/10/2011 11:09:29 AM

Harm from Fukushima Radiation: A Matter Of Perspective
"Whether you choose to see the Fukushima fallout as safe depends on the perspective you adopt, as David J. Brenner, a professor of radiation biophysics and the director of the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University Medical Center, elucidated recently in The Bulletin of The Atomic Scientists:
Should this worry us? We know that the extra individual cancer risks from this long-term exposure will be very small indeed. Most of us have about a 40 percent chance of getting cancer at some point in our lives, and the radiation dose from the extra radioactive cesium in the food supply will not significantly increase our individual cancer risks.
But there’s another way we can and should think about the risk: not from the perspective of individuals, but from the perspective of the entire population. A tiny extra risk to a few people is one thing. But here we have a potential tiny extra risk to millions or even billions of people. Think of buying a lottery ticket — just like the millions of other people who buy a ticket, your chances of winning are miniscule. Yet among these millions of lottery players, a few people will certainly win; we just can’t predict who they will be. Likewise, will there be some extra cancers among the very large numbers of people exposed to extremely small radiation risks? It’s likely, but we really don’t know for sure."

Have you seen this over at Enenews:
Melt-out “nuclear fuel” struck fear in the groundwater! — the worst excess of the melt through — TEPCO do not hide this possibility!,
enenews.comby bo 7/10/2011 11:28:53 AM

@bo the groundwater under the plant goes to the sea @edano worked out I think tepco are quite happy to let it pollute the sea and am not convinced that elements of the gov and industry are not complicit in this.
Japan cannot afford the loss of land so the more they allow to leak into the pacific the less land they lose
what they dont seem to have factored in is that they are spreading it further as the sea-cloud-rain cycle takes place
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 11:34:27 AM

Sounds believable. No doubt that is the calculus that TEPCO has done. And the short sighted bargain with the devil they have made.
by bo 7/10/2011 11:36:51 AM

no sign of tepco restoring the water decontamination unit that is leaking but hey ho - today earthquake caused no damage to the plant tepco say the fact the far wall of 4 appears to be falling of is just wear and tear doncha know!! I make us coffee then tint one of the pics so the pic is clearer
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 11:37:17 AM

I am becoming more and more convinced that my wife and I need to get out of here before long. The coming years are going to be horrific.
by bo 7/10/2011 11:38:23 AM

@bo @es yes I agree with @es and you will be able to work to help the people far better without concerns for your immediate family
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 12:30:25 PM

Sorry folks, was taking a break in front of the tube. Thanks to you @AC and @es for your kind words. It's hard to know that our world here is succumbing to such a trauma. Also strange to know that we can get out, but tens of millions can't.
by bo 7/10/2011 12:30:29 PM

I have four kids, but all grown in and in their 20s and not in Asia. If they were here I would have been gone four months ago. Here in Hiroshima we are not too worried about the direct contamination, but it is clear that life here is going to deteriorate for many years to come.
by bo 7/10/2011 12:33:37 PM

Morning all, trying to get up to speed. I just saw Mona's pic at the bottom, looks like the facade fell off 4 post quake? What else is happening since the quake last night (morning JST)?
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 1:17:52 PM

@Lilly the workers have to buy the food and are skipping meals!! rockhopper going to find about water
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 1:26:49 PM

@elainekirk WTH! Let me guess, the labor ministry guys left.
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 1:31:39 PM

@lillymunster tepco sink to lower depths than the plant
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 1:34:54 PM

@Elaine, we need to keep on that via the workers twitters. If they are not supplying food that needs to get out.
I am going through images VS. Monas. There is a slightly different light and camera angle vs. some of my May TBS close ups. I think the lower facade pieces below the SFP may have pulverized off some more. Those have been slowly coming off. Of course we never get a good up close pic to see to make sure it is just the facade and the concrete structure is still sound.
The center of the roof might have sunk some more, can't tell 100% for sure yet. Need to compare more images. TBS usually does some close ups around 12 hrs from now. I should be back before that and will try to grab some new screen shots to review. If the dimensions changed they didn't change massively. So this is a good sign. They are incredibly lucky they have the steel frame under the sfp. I don't think it would have stayed contained without some support.
