  • @ikrockhopper and what shall the physicians say ? they have no information about air contamination either.
    by Edano 8/13/2011 2:25:42 AM

  • @bo Glad to meet you, too! My 'activism' started almost 40 years ago, my mother took me to a Hiroshima/Nagasaki exhibition, which were held back then, every summer, everywhere in Japan.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:25:43 AM

  • @Peter Melzer Really? in produce?
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:26:09 AM

  • @elainekirk I try to tell people here it could have been you, it could be you tomorrow. The plants are just not safe. Our safety isn't any better than anywhere else. Our govt. has a proven track record of denial and failing during disasters. This isn't just a Japan problem, they just had the bad luck first.
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 2:26:15 AM

  • @lkrockhopper well times have changed haven't t
hey? I spent my life since my late teens attending Hiroshima Day observations in the US until I moved to Japan 6 years ago.
    by bo 8/13/2011 2:27:47 AM

  • @elainekirk @lillymunster Absolutely! We need global campaign. The huge regret is that a majority of JPs don't read/write English... This is another problem here... If many more can, all of us can help doing the global campaign. But, I will do my best.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:28:01 AM

  • @ikrockhopper Berkley Uni found small amounts in strawberries, spinach and mushrooms in California back in March-April.
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 2:28:23 AM

  • @ikrockhopper , nobody knew precisely how much radiation was released at that time anyways. But they could have instructed the most vulnerable to take them.
by Peter Melzer 8/13/2011 2:28:55 AM

  • @Peter Melzer It seemed like there was no system to do precaution behaviors. Back then, mayors seemed to be in charge for distribution and intake order.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:29:09 AM

  • @Edano I know... physicians cannot, either.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:29:39 AM

  • @ikrockhopper if you showed tetu_no_oyome the translate.google.com she could come say hi we wouldnt tell her to show her broken teeth and laugh like you did (^O^)
tell her that is how I read her tweets
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 2:29:55 AM

  • this is a big picture. Historically, Japan has been focusing on Secondary Prevention, not Primary prevention. Never precaution behavior. So, it's understandable why JP/local dont have systems for precaution behaviors at emergency.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:31:06 AM

  • Speaking of Berkeley, they are doing testing again. They have food and soil samples from back around March-April and now new ones www.nuc.berkeley.edu
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 2:31:53 AM

  • @lillymunster You are absolutely right! ' we don't have quakes' 'we don't even have the ocean to get tsunami' ... doesnt matter.
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:31:57 AM

  • @bo Wow, I am sooooo glad to hear that!
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:32:54 AM

  • @Peter Melzer Yes, especially because potassium iodine will not be harmful...
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:33:46 AM

  • @lkrockhopper where in Japan do you live? In Tohoku? In Kanto?
    by bo 8/13/2011 2:33:57 AM

  • @ikrockhopper we have plenty of other things in parts that don't get quakes. The problem isn't what causes the power plant incident. Anything that kicks off the same chain of events where power is completely lost or major damage done could end in the same situation. All it would have taken was one over stressed dam breaking this spring and we could have had 2 flooded nuclear plants here.
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 2:34:12 AM

  • @elainekirk did you? It seems like she found a dentist
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:35:44 AM

  • @bo Nerima ward, Tokyo :)
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:36:20 AM

  • @lillymunster Yeah, I was so worried about the two plants in Nebraska!
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:37:00 AM

  • Alright, I guess I need to work a bit. So, is this the place you guys are chatting? I will come back. I need to translated JP news on Twitter, too. Oh, tomorrow, I will translate the Fukushima health check up documents. Sorry for the delay, Elaine-san!
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:38:28 AM

  • @lkrockhopper that is a great part of town! Great to meet you and looking forward to more chat here in the future. You are very welcome indeed!

    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:40:03 AM

    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 2:40:38 AM

  • @elainekirk hahaha, see you soon! Have a good sleep! and thank you for bringing me here :)
    by ikrockhopper 8/13/2011 2:42:22 AM

  • Tepco have opened many twitter accounts they have split the greater Tokyo area into sections and given each section a separate tepco account to follow somebody got wise and said following them means they can pinpoint the 'troublemakers' in each area but people aren't understanding what the warnings mean they think the couple of people saying don't follow tepco are slightly crazy
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 2:43:07 AM

  • @ikrockhopper I will sleep now :) well in a minute
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 2:43:28 AM

  • @elainekirk I noticed they created an English TEPCO today.

  • Scandal Taints Japan Nuclear Sector online.wsj.com
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 2:45:39 AM

  • ikrockhopper Itsumi Kakefuda
(NHK documentary last night on temp workers at Fukushima) Some homeless people don't have any IDs anyway; so, fake insurance cards are used.
(cont) This may explain why TEPCO cant track all workers for whole body count. Plus, no pic on ID card for on-site workers. So, (cont) it's not difficult to pretend another person, and sneak into the area. (cont) TEPCO may know it, according to a worker on the documentary. This works for TEPCO, because they cant (=don't need) to track them,(cont) who potentially got high radiation exposure in the Fukushima while they were working.
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 2:57:49 AM

  • This looks interesting that rockhopper just tweeted and it has subtitles www.asyura2.com
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 3:02:22 AM

    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 3:19:40 AM

  • @Panserbjorne9 @lillymunster panser who do you tweet as? lilly that is a good number they must be getting angry I watched the first vid in the rockhopper link :( so sad
    by elainekirk 8/13/2011 3:22:20 AM

  • @elainekirk I put the video page in my morning coffee list. I hope the farmers and fishermen keep at it and can increase in numbers. It makes people aware and puts pressure on TEPCO
    by lillymunster 8/13/2011 3:27:37 AM

  • @lillymunster maybe we could encourage them to take more photo's they cross the language barrier twitpic.com or we can add a translation - the great twitpic campaign :)

by elainekirk via Twitpic 8/13/2011 3:33:08 AM
