@elainekirk I saw that, not sure what to think of it. Why would they do that? Does it throw off true levels?
by lillymunster 9/1/2011 10:32:25 PM

by lillymunster 9/1/2011 10:33:48 PM

@lillymunster it is confusing the hell out of me, the doc was lookingok till I read that and then I start to think is all the money in the form of loans?
by elainekirk 9/1/2011 10:34:01 PM

@elainekirk I have to take off. Will read it tonight and see if I can make any sense of it.
by lillymunster 9/1/2011 10:35:28 PM

not only pay it back they have to prove death was caused by disaster , suppose someone is elderly and succumbs weeks later
・" Regarding the provision of condolence money in case of disaster, Prefectural Governments were notified that
in case it is difficult to make a decision whether the death of a person was caused by the disaster, a committee
could be set up independently by municipalities and also the municipalities could delegate the establishment
and management of the committee to the Prefectural Governments if an agreement was established between
the municipalities and the Prefectural Government upon consultation. (June 17"

Jumping through hoops for the money to bury your loved ones when you are in all probability homeless and without income and having to find a way to pay that money back

been requested to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry from the
Chairman of Special Committee on Science and Technology for Innovation
Advancements of the House of Representatives.

@Peter Melzer why are there not copies lodged with government etc ? to have just a copy on the premises seems lax procedure
by elainekirk 9/2/2011 12:21:11 AM

@Peter Melzer @es I would have hoped that every government that has npp plants would have a team who , in the event of an emergency situation, would go to the plant and collect all evidence, talk to employees and familiarise themselves with events as they unfold . It appears to the casual watcher that Tepco get ooccassional letters from gov asking for information by such and such a date, Tepco then either give some of the information , fob them off, give incorrect information 'in error', or merely tell them no
by elainekirk 9/2/2011 12:43:57 AM

The procedure here in any industry is to investigate events that have major impact / threaten life and limb... though of course whether that happens with nukes I dont know

TEPCO real estate assessed over $14 billion [Dollars !]
A government panel has found that Tokyo Electric Power Company, the operator of the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, owns real estate worth more than 14 billion dollars in book value.
The committee is studying TEPCO's financial condition, including its real estate, stocks and other assets, to find sources of compensation for the nuclear accident.
The committee found TEPCO possesses real estate worth about 1.1 trillion yen, or 14.3 billion dollars, in book value, the price at the time of acquisition.
The assets include power plants and other facilities related to the electricity business, worth 9.1 billon dollars. Welfare facilities for TEPCO workers and buildings unrelated to power generation business totaled 5.2 billion dollars.
The committee says at market value, their value could expand significantly.
In its own report to the committee, TEPCO said it could only sell a small share of real estate unrelated to its main business, giving it a book value of 1.3 billion dollars.
The committee will investigate whether the utility has other salable assets. It plans to report its findings at the end of the month.
