@lillymunster no neither any comeback on hitachi which reminds me that the two big players in with tepco at fuku durin this event are ...hitachi and toshiba are they not ?

Very interesting take on the over-cozy industry/government relationship by a nuke industry insider
nukepowertalk.blogspot.comby lillymunster 10/21/2011 2:22:19 AM

@elainekirk yes. Hitachi has one of the biggest crews at the plants and sets some of their own internal rules for their employees like lower rad exposure levels that TEPCO has set.
by lillymunster 10/21/2011 2:23:15 AM

@lillymunster well I have it all set up so I can get all the data we gather into it and we can look see where to go but now I must sleep
by elainekirk 10/21/2011 2:36:33 AM

The whole Hitachi & Toshiba in the clean up is a bit concerning. On one hand they know the plant & equipment and are capable of doing the work. On the other they colluded with TEPCO many times to cover up some really dangerous corner cutting and fraud.

@elainekirk sounds like a plan. I think I am almost out of data. Will give it one more go in the morning to make sure I got everything. Off to bed myself

A little bump, before bed. Be well.

Fukushima assembly OKs reactor decommission
The assembly of Fukushima prefecture has adopted a petition calling for the scrapping of all 10 nuclear reactors in the prefecture. The prefecture hosts two Tokyo Electric Power Company-run nuclear stations, one of them severely damaged by the March disaster.
The petition adopted by a majority vote on Thursday was submitted by a civic group in June, following the nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant.
The petition urges the decommissioning of all reactors run by Tokyo Electric Power in the prefecture -- six at the Daiichi plant and four at the Daini plant.
This is the first time in Japan that a prefecture hosting nuclear plants has voted to adopt such a petition.
Tokyo Electric has concluded it will decommission four reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant that suffered severe damage in the March disaster. But the utility has yet to come up with detailed plans for the remaining six reactors.

Japan to test cedar pollen for radiation in FukushimaTOKYO, Oct. 21, Kyodo
The Forestry Agency will test cedar pollen in Fukushima Prefecture for radiation from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, agency officials said Friday.
If high radiation levels are detected, the agency may incorporate the test data into cedar pollen dispersal forecasts that the Environment Ministry will announce later this year before the pollen starts dispersing in the early spring.
The agency has requested the costs for the radiation test in a pending third supplementary budget for fiscal 2011 so as to conduct it as early as next month.

@lillymunster have you seen the tepco vids edano posted?
by elainekirk 10/21/2011 12:35:01 PM

@elainekirk I saw but had not watched yet, will here in a few now that I have everyone out the door at home. Do you have a link for the spreadsheet on all the nuke company accidents from last night?
by lillymunster 10/21/2011 12:40:13 PM

@lillymunster I will have it ready in a couple of hours just doing a couple more doors (paint) few more to add

watching Edano's post on videos... very nice...

@elaine.. you and lilly have been busy
by dean 10/21/2011 1:18:49 PM

I am only 1/2 way through one of them and based on the extensive damage I am more inclined to believe the earlier core damage.... who knows what could have happened inside those buildings,, I am amazed.... and didn't tepco say.. minor damage at some point..
by dean 10/21/2011 1:25:26 PM

@dean Some of the things we found last night were just crazy
by lillymunster 10/21/2011 1:25:38 PM

@lilly.. I'm excited to see
by dean 10/21/2011 1:29:09 PM

@Dean - is the isolation condenser usually in the turbine building or those "in between" buildings between the reactor & turbine? Trying to place a location with that video?
by lillymunster 10/21/2011 1:30:05 PM

BACK... @lilly.. the isolation condensor is opposite the fuel pool just below main floor... I found this link for oyster creek but it does have a statement about the lack of isolation condensor at fuku 1..
