  • We do have some spikes in western Russia. I am still working the Chernobyl region rad data. There is what looks like a jump in the region centered on Chernobyl on Oct 3rd.
Will also go re-check EUDEP for Slovakia

  • Here's a new update enenews.com
    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 1:29:26 PM

  • I pulled data from Slovakia for the 1 month date range in question. There are light spikes on the 9th and around the 20th. These seem to coincide in size with what was seen in the other nearby countries Czech Republic, Austria, Poland but is earlier. These others document the 17th or the 11th depending on who you ask. Will post graphs for others to review.

My $.02, if Slovakia is the source I would have thought we would see more jump or activity on the monitors? Even the two at the power plants didn't show much change. Oddly enough the 9th fits either with Slovakia being the center based on date only, or also works with the pattern of dates and spikes from the Ukraine somewhat.

  • @lilly - the enenews link I posted enenews.com is interesting because (a) they admit emitting I-131 and (b) it is geographically in the right place
    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 2:18:16 PM

  • @all. I added the two live global incident maps and radiocial (crowd sourced raidation map) to the technical tools links on the group website.

  • Enenews says Hungary, not Slovakia?
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:22:46 PM

  • WTH!!! They say they did not emit enough to be the source but:

    Izotop Intezet said it emitted:

300 gigabecquerels (GBq) were emitted between January and May
324 GBq between September and November
A total of 624 billion becquerels

It would need to be an October emission to be the source unless it was the very end of September

    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:27:29 PM

  • Thanks. It makes sense, at least as much as anything else. A nuclear plant incident seems to me unlikely as the discharge is relatively small...
    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 2:29:34 PM

  • They are an isotope maker - that makes them a prime suspect though
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:30:43 PM

  • @hudebnik the problem is the IAEA declared it to be a non nuclear plant event because there was only iodine found. We could only find 2 known isotope plants in the EU - one in Russia and one in Poland - now this one pops up out of nowhere.

  • The company's web page www.izotop.hu
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:32:42 PM

  • Corporate home is Budapest. It doesn't say where the factory is. Budapest has a "green" on the EUDEP scale right now but there is a purple level west of Budapest quite a bit.
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:35:12 PM

    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 2:39:00 PM

  • "IZOTOP’s facility licensed for operating at a high level of radioactivity is located near to the Budapest research reactor. " and they produce I-131
    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 2:40:51 PM

  • Papa for Oct 17 ending - note the chart changes both charts are under 200 range

    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:42:48 PM

  • So is the Budapest research reactor actually IN Budapest? Pulling Budapest data now.

    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 2:53:32 PM

  • Budapest saw jumps Oct 8, 10, 24 and 25. No november jump as they admit in the article?
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 2:54:02 PM

  • The Fukushima rice ban now making it to the UK papers www.guardian.co.uk

  • That tour is interesting
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 3:09:19 PM

  • Well it's looking interesting - right timescale, right location, right product.
    by hudebnik 11/17/2011 3:11:07 PM

  • Right product.
Location could be in line with other data if we remove Russian findings. What is odd is the readings we have for Ukraine and Russia to be involved in the Budapest leak would require fast moving winds going west to east. This creates a problem.

But could we have TWO leaks? One at Budapest and One at Chernobyl creating two sets of readings? Either that or it isn't Budapest and is something in Ukraine. Again the lack of a rad network in the Ukraine is causing an issue. We do have readings around the Chernobyl region but not the rest of the country. Chernobyl region looked to have a jump on Oct 3rd.
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 3:17:58 PM

  • This Budapest company sounds to me like a highly likely source. I am going to finish the Chernobyl data since I am almost done. If nothing else this will clarify what is coming out the the plant for future reference.

What do others think of the Budapest plant as maybe being our source?
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 3:19:45 PM

  • If you ignore for the moment the Ukraine data the Oct 17 cluster on the simplyinfo map www.simplyinfo.org is nicely round Budapest

    by hudebnik via Simplyinfo.org 11/17/2011 3:24:34 PM

  • looking at the updated EU map that I need to upload, Slovakia had two increases the 9th and 20th of Oct. But that puts the Slovakia jump on the 20th ahead of the jump in Budapest. Hrm....
    by lillymunster 11/17/2011 3:24:38 PM

  • As so often, we can prove anything!
