  • Nuclear Event in South Korea on Wednesday, 14 December, 2011 at 12:18 (12:18 PM) UTC.
    Description
South Korea shut down a nuclear reactor Wednesday for what appeared to be problems in an electric generator connected to the reactor, plant operators said. The Unit-3 reactor at Kori Nuclear Power Plant was shut down at 8:36 a.m., according to an official from the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. "A problem was detected in the generator, but it will take some time before we learn exactly what the problem is," the official said. "There is no radiation leak or any safety threat." The reactor, located 410 kilometers southeast of capital Seoul, went into operation in September 1985. It has a capacity of 950,000 kilowatts. The shutdown came one day after a 1-million kilowatt reactor at a nearby plant in Uljin, 330 kilometers southeast of Seoul, stopped operation for unknown reasons. The stoppage of two nuclear reactors could lower the country's electricity reserve rate to dangerous levels, especially during the winter peak season. The official from the state-run nuclear power company, however, said there were no immediate dangers of a nationwide blackout due to the shutdown of the reactors. South Korea currently has 21 nuclear reactors that provide about 40 percent of its total electricity needs. hisz.rsoe.hu

  • Radiation doses vary with evacuation patterns
FUKUSHIMA--Evacuation patterns affected the differing levels of external radiation to which residents of Fukushima Prefecture were exposed in the first four months of the crisis at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, according to the prefectural government.

The difference was seen in interim results released Tuesday of health checks on all residents of the prefecture.

Just after the crisis began, the government initially failed to disclose data from the System for Prediction of Environmental Emergency Dose Information (SPEEDI), which was used to analyze how radioactive substances would spread from the nuclear plant.

The latest data renewed the anger of affected residents, who said they would have evacuated elsewhere had they been aware.

    webmasters comment:

There we go. They had all the information, they knew it was melting, they knew where it was going and yet they decided to withhold the information from the public, not to distribute iodine, etc, so the facade of safe and clean nuclear power could continue.

The exposure values stated are "external exposure" values and they don't reflect the actual effect on the health of these people .

The japgov actions were deliberate following the implementation of the information act, where all of the info was first to be confirmed from the japanese government. All the people suffering from radioactive fallout were left in the cold intentionally, served as offerings on the altar of Holy Uranium Cultists.

TOKYO — Dozens of workers at Japan’s tsunami-hit nuclear power plant have come down with symptoms of stomach flu, halting a radioactive waste cleanup operation.

The operator of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant said Saturday that a norovirus outbreak is suspected. Fifty-two workers assigned to the effort have been treated at a hospital over the past three days. Three of the workers have tested positive for the virus, a common form of flu.

  • @Display Name:MaryW yes you can upload videos or anything medical to share and discuss. but i hoped they would discuss health issues from fuku that are not publicly shared, but it doesn't seem so. just general medical themes. it is interesting though. i could discuss my cases with the rest of the world .... :)
    by Edano 12/18/2011 2:20:15 AM

  • @Edano Yes, all sounds good! In regards to some Fukushima health radiation issues that are now available on the net, you may want to consider uploading these support videos/materials/studies, in hopes to get a 'conversation' started or connect with professionals with this interest.
    by MaryW 12/18/2011 2:27:50 AM

  • @Edano Maybe YOU are the person to get this health issue started:)

  • @Edano There are a 'few' legitimate health discussions we came across. It is a research project to identify what info on the net is backed with reliable sources. Tidbits from articles and only the one study so far has been done and is in review to publish, the International Norwegian one.
