  • @elainekirk Can't make any sense of that TEPCO piece of information.
by Pedro Jesus 2/9/2012 11:37:34 AM

  • @Pedro Jesus glad it isn't just me
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 11:43:42 AM

  • I get the loss of a restart button sometimes. Refreshing the page a few times sometimes will get it to show up. I had it unavailable once and had to wait for someone else with mods ability to show up to restart it.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 12:48:32 PM

  • @lillymunster So it is an existing bug then. I have reported it to the support team. I spent 1 hour refreshing, login in and out and in again, and the restart button never showed up again... :(

  • High cesium found in mud in Tokyo Bay. www.arirang.co.kr

I'm sure it has nothing to do with dumping cesium tainted ash in the bay....

  • @lillymunster lol. Have you seen the 2 temp docs beloe?
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 12:57:10 PM

  • @elainekirk I saw a link to one new TEPCO temp sheet. Is there another?

    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 1:08:00 PM

  • @elainekirk What is the significance of those 5am temps? I'm a bit thick in the head this morning, the cold virus is eating my brain. :-)

I noticed one chart signifies the sensors are at those degree points we questioned yesterday - that helps pinpoint some things better.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:23:46 PM

  • OH! Told you I was thick in the head today. Didn't realize it was 5am TODAY!
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:24:36 PM

  • Good morning, just woke up to this lovely news: State of emergency on power substation in the south of St. Petersburg 24000years.tumblr.com
    by deb 2/9/2012 1:25:14 PM

  • @deb someone confused two separate incidents and it is getting passed around. The basement fire in the nuke reactor is in MOSCOW the substation that had the epic explosion is in St. Petersberg.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:26:49 PM

  • @lillymunster yes they are both today confused as to why they publish two figures for the same time slot
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 1:29:49 PM

  • So there are two recent incidents in Russia?
    by deb 2/9/2012 1:30:53 PM

  • @elainekirk Where are you seeing the 67.9 at 5am? I am looking at both temp documents and both show 70.6 at the 5am time slot
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:31:25 PM

  • @deb two separate incidents in russia days apart. Fukushima Diary posted this yesterday and incorrectly connected the two incidents. If you translate the info on the video is says it is a substation in St. Petersberg. The reactor that had a basement fire is a student training small scale reactor in Moscow that is shutdown. That is apparently over and put out.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:33:09 PM

  • the 5a.m. reading here ? www.tepco.co.jp
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 1:34:14 PM

  • @elainekirk AH! see told you I was thick in the head today :-)

6 am is 67.6 - why they would have differing readings for two documents? The more detailed temp logs vs. the less detailed temp log. How are they distributed or presented to the public? We had been getting the abbreviated one. We knew TEPCO wasn't releasing information on purpose. So are they trying to BS the public with the abbreviated sheet showing all under 70 degrees?
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:37:53 PM

  • @lillymunster do you think the detailed was released in error?
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 1:41:07 PM

  • @elainekirk where did you find it?
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:41:25 PM

  • The daily reports use the 67.9 number for 5am. They are manipulating data.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:42:54 PM

  • shopping
    by elainekirk 2/9/2012 1:43:17 PM

  • So the detailed temp list you found by hacking the web address? So it wasn't put on the main press release page?
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:44:28 PM

  • Haha, I remember early on how info was found by adding extensions to the web addresses. TEPCO was not very smart about that, they should have used a secret code, instead of dates.
    by deb 2/9/2012 1:46:45 PM

  • @deb they do say criminals are stupid and usually get caught by their mistakes. :-)
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:48:08 PM

  • Elaine gets Queen for the day! :-)
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:48:35 PM

  • i don't think so. if they want to keep something secret, they would do it instead of publishing it on their server. must be a different reason.
    by Edano 2/9/2012 1:49:13 PM

  • they surely have an internal web apart from the www :)
    by Edano 2/9/2012 1:50:45 PM

  • @Edano they put it on the server but don't link it in the press release page. My guess is certain people get the link to it, others don't. They used the lower temp in their daily report. They make no mention of the two 70 degree spikes
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:51:20 PM

  • @Edano yes TEPCO obviously has an intranet for internal documents. They also have a layered system of who gets how much information. We have seen many times that only certain press people get some information. Less favored press and the general public don't get. They have an email system where they send out information to favored press people. So my guess is that data sheet is being sent to either favored press or contractors using the link. That is a very typical corporate tactic to obscure something by just not advertising the link.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:53:52 PM

  • @lillymunster if you want a restricted access it is easy to password protect it. they sure have IT specialists.
    by Edano 2/9/2012 1:54:22 PM

  • @Edano this is lazy man's access restrictions for things that are not high security.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:55:41 PM

  • by the way i don't see the real problem why they should hide some degrees more or less from the public. it does not make much difference. i find it strange.
    by Edano 2/9/2012 1:56:20 PM

  • @lillymunster Very, very true! The truth always manages to find it's way out, may take a long time in some cases, but eventually the ugly lies lose out to it.
    by deb 2/9/2012 1:58:40 PM

  • @Edano illusion. Showing it is still going over 70 degrees indicates a problem is still going on. They manipulated both 70 degree readings and replaced them with readings in the 60's.

It is like pricing items. An item sold for $49.99 is perceived as cheaper than an item marked at $50.00. It is a PR game they are playing. I am sure this was not done by the technical crews but was done by the PR office.

67 and 68 degrees are perceived vastly different that 70.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 1:59:04 PM

  • or maybe they have raw data and revised data. like earthquakes. you correct the data later ? maybe the thermometers put out a data stream that is not easy to read and has to be interpreted ?
    by Edano 2/9/2012 1:59:06 PM

  • @Edano the detailed log isn't a raw feed. Someone types that up.
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 2:00:02 PM

  • but they put out temps over 70°:

    by Edano 2/9/2012 2:01:18 PM

  • @Edano right those are temps Feb 7 or older. They declared the issue resolved. Now they are omitting the spikes over 70. If they admit these two 70 degree spikes people might think there is still a problem
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 2:03:03 PM

  • So do people thing TEPCO is obfuscating these temp spikes?
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 3:26:03 PM

  • is the 6hrly figure an average?

  • NYT article on NRC and plant safety that will give you nightmares www.nytimes.com
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 3:41:09 PM

  • @elainekirk they could be averaging all readings to come up with a number maybe? Either way it isn't the real number at 5am?
    by lillymunster 2/9/2012 3:42:30 PM

  • @lillymunster they said once before when caught out that it was an average and that announcing numbers gourly would cause alarm I dont know if you remember? think it was #4 sfp
