i don't know if the original NRC Assessment has been posted here before, because it has not been widely published, so here it is: www.tagesspiegel.de there are some surprises, e.g. the water injected in #1 is not boronated (!), that there is actually no water at all anymorer inside the vessel of #1, and that the bottom temp cannot be correct because of the salt.

Anyone have skills to enhance Hi-Res images from History/Static page? Interested in debris that fills the trenches (ocean side) of turbine bldg. for Reactor #4. Big orange and while crane makes it easy to identify area I'm interested in, thanks.

@Nancy did you ever figure out that hole in the turbine building? I found some images someone else made up on it giving a possible explanation that I'm not sure about..

@Canadian I was just looking over those again, and there's the one from the top, where you can see the debris pattern emanating from R3, across the same building with the hole and down the hill. We saw a lot of speculation that it was the refueling crane, which would have come down heavy end first.

@radioguy thanks, I found this index of images when I was searching for webcam pics, I am not quite sold on the shape of the piece they are identifying ... but it might explain why the gridwork wasn't disturbed by something going "in" .. www.in.odessa.ua

Every time I see those photos, I'm struck with two almost simultaneous thoughts. 1) They built that containment really strong to take a blast like that. and 2) It's amazing if it was strong enough.

@Canadian If that gridwork, or pipe or whatever is connected far back from where we see it, it could have been pushed out of the way by the entry and then sprung right back up.

Hi radioguy: take a look at the last image in the Hi-Res history/static page its of bldg. 4. look at the roof (what remains of it) on the left side of the image, notice how the framing of the roof leans in toward the bldg. and you'll see a HUGE object that looks like it landed on the roof. I think its something from the explosion of bldg. 3, what do you think?

@Tenzing What I see is that big arc of concrete from R3 that hit round side first, smashing in the side of the R4 building, marking it with that concrete smudging on the siding, then rolled away onto its edge as it came to rest. Right? So what is big and heavy and arced and comes from the nearly obliterated R3 space?

@radioguy I don't think its concrete. when i use my iphoto to zoom in its obviously metal and covered with concrete dust from the explosion. How do I attach the image from my iphoto to the F#$%^&G comment!!!

and yes, it seems it had to be metal and concrete because simple concrete would have pulverized more. Looking at the internals of the reactor from our research, that outer containment wall, which seems to be concrete against steel, springs unconvincingly to mind. But, what if what we see there is internal concussion INSIDE the steel containment from the venting explosion, that hammered the inside of the concrete containment so hard that it stripped and ejected a chunk of it. That would leave no pressure above atmo ever in the drywell.
