Workers are currently evacuated, and power's out. Swell.
by bojack54 4/11/2011 8:51:22 AM
Off site power for units 1-3 has been disrupted and cooling to 3 has stopped
by NHK Listener 4/11/2011 8:51:40 AM
Whoa, now they are saying 1-4 and cooling is out
by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 8:51:58 AM
all power is out...no cooling
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:52:47 AM
@Sin They can still use the diesel pumps once they get back
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:53:07 AM
no water, but does not impose immediate threat
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:53:14 AM
I think they only did the nitrogen for one day, didn't they?
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:53:55 AM
One or two days Borrden
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:54:25 AM
@borrrden No, the nitrogen operation was estimated to last 6 days.
by Pedro Jesus 4/11/2011 8:55:09 AM
@Pedro Jesus You are right, I just found the info on the latest JAIF report.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:56:22 AM
@Pedro Jesus yes, but it was halted
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:56:25 AM
@Sinthia Domina It was restarted yesterday, according to JAIF.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:56:43 AM
They keep talking fire trucks -- sounds like the diesel pumps are shot.
by bojack54 4/11/2011 8:56:51 AM
@borrrden I thought they did not continue after last aftershock
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:56:53 AM
@Sinthia Domina The injection is halted as they have to monitor temperature and pressures but the operation is on-going, afaik.
by Pedro Jesus 4/11/2011 8:57:23 AM
April 9th: eopened.) 03:29 Nitrogen injection valve was closed in order to switch to the high purity nitrogen gas generator. (04:10 The valve was reopened) www.jaif.or.jp
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:58:01 AM
@Pedro Jesus the plan for it is I know, but maybe set back even farther now
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 8:58:01 AM
Now, revisitng their statement..no immediate changes visible...and 3 min. later all evacuated = they couldn't even have inspected and than 5 min. later all power lost...i am never ever believing anytrhing anyone out of JP says about that Plant anymore
by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 8:58:21 AM
@Veen Oui They had to evacuate because of the tsunami warning.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 8:59:03 AM
@borrrden I am aware of that but they issued a statement while evacuated that all was ok
by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 8:59:40 AM
@Veen Oui Everything WAS ok when they said it, then another quake happened just a couple minutes later....
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:00:19 AM
Update from Katz: emergency pumps are on standby, ready to be immediately switched.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:02:15 AM
so...I know it was calculated early on at how long they have to get that power restored before water loss...anyone remember what that was?
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:02:56 AM
I would think water loss would start immediately. Aren't the reactor seals shot?
by bojack54 4/11/2011 9:04:16 AM
@Sinthia Domina - At this point, I think failure of injection would result in immediate water loss due to leakage.

by NHK Listener 4/11/2011 9:04:58 AM
Tsunami warning liftedf
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:05:36 AM
my earthquake warning went off again
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:05:51 AM
same location, Fukushim
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:05:55 AM
@bojack54 That was my assumption...the water injection method they are using is not a very high volume, and they never changed the position that all the core rods were partially if not fully uncovered.
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:06:03 AM
another one coming
by roscoojam 4/11/2011 9:06:39 AM
@Hank Scorpio actually this is about the 6th or 7th tonight, most have been 5.5 or smaller though.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:07:04 AM
Again, 5 AM this morning, the tench tunnel was nearly full with only 92cm to go.we had continious water cooling and numerous EQ's now....so probably near top and swapping over.....
by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 9:07:15 AM
how can you sleep or have any kind of normal life like that?
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:07:44 AM
@Sinthia Domina This is the first time it has happened so rapidly for a while.
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:08:11 AM
PUMPING RESUMED AT DAIICHI
by borrrden 4/11/2011 9:08:16 AM
external power supply resumed and water injection for 1, 2,3
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:08:57 AM
was suspended from 5:16-6:05
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:09:40 AM
@borrrden You all come come move over here...
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:10:17 AM
They are watching their words a lot more carefully this time...more reserved and not so stupid optimistic reassurances
by Sinthia Domina 4/11/2011 9:11:06 AM
Tepco cam broke ? no image
by WolfDK 4/11/2011 9:11:11 AM
do we believe anything this guy says
by roscoojam 4/11/2011 9:12:14 AM
did they say 15minute disruption?
by NHK Listener 4/11/2011 9:14:14 AM
