@Rob in SF That's great about the food products, but where does it go?! And I'd think that would be far more effective with surface contamination than with food that contains the radioinuclides.

A camera was mounted on a remote-controlled helicopter to get pictures of the damaged reactors from above Sunday in hopes of getting a better look at the damaged housings of the No. 1, 3 and 4 reactors and hopefully the pools of spent fuel inside, company spokesman Junichi Matsumoto said. The drone hovered over the plant for 28 minutes at an altitude of about 150 meters (492 feet), he said.

The T-Hawk drone, built by the U.S. company Honeywell, can transmit ordinary pictures as well as infrared images, Matsumoto told reporters. Images captured by the drone are expected to be released Monday, he said. www.cnn.com

@fitter I suspect they flew around Each reactor 1 time.. 28 mins is not very much data for 4 reactors unless it was thermals only. So we will find out soon enough.. Suspense is building though

Just saw Arnie Gundersen's video displaying how fuel might have got out of outer zirconium coating. Possibility of fuel gotten out does not seem very far fetched by his demonstration. He's not "all fluff and no stuff" guy painted out by few bloggers and many commercial companies after all.. Interesting stuff overall... Has Dean commented on the video?

I do think Arnie has the necessary background knowledge to make educated hypotheses, but even by his own admission it is difficult for him to comment accurately when the information he receives is so limited.

@Optim Just my opinion, but I think he's very good at explaining to the best of his knowledge...which is considerable...what's happening at Fukushima. He's been there and done that. But, it's in the best interest of certain commercial operations to try to smear him as someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. On the other hand, TEPCO has proven themselves to be very untrustworthy.

Yes, I assume we won't know the detailed truth for years to come, because the detailed truth will require analysis that is impossible at this point in time. I bet even TEPCO, on site, has little idea what is happening. It is all based on models and guesses based on questionable readings.

All tepco has been doing is hogwash. @Lethbidgean: Excellent point. That makes me think. Would someone from GoJ or TEPCO monitoring this blog?
