@ColorMeRed I understand that but there has got to be an international watch dog.we all know by now, that the IAEA is nothing but overpaid media mongling no balls joke outfit.....so who has the power to repremand and interviene to get the world to be sure of real numbers??

@Sinthia Domina: I don't think they really are lying, at least that they change the facts, as the data we get seem consistent. But as usual for any huge accident, information is not fully given to the public.
But understanding how things fail and what's going on is important to me; it might be the way to avoid another one, and another one, .... at least I hope so.

@Veen Oui : nobody will ever be able to calculate the amount of radioactivity washed out into the ocean. so i think there will never be a clean and qualified analysis of what has happened.

Well, i always looked at GreenPeace with much controversy but i gotta tell you......my vision for them has changed.....i definetly believe them more than anything else i see and that with grinding teeth !

@Veen Oui It should have been the IAEA, but they're part and parcel of the totally useless United Nations. Any country is hampered by host-country agreements and diplomatic memoranda, not to mention sovereignty issues.

@Jo Lindien: Yday GoJ said that the blast on Mr 15th emitted huge amount of radioactive substances. They are knowing this after almost 1 month. They definitely knew before hand. May be they din't want to induce mass panic. You cannot argue against them not revealing all the facts right away. Whatever the intentions

So far, the only "watch dog" I've seen that I trust is Greenpeace. Right after Greenpeace had their conference the other night, the extended evacuation around Fukushima was ordered. TEPCO builds plants in other countries, like USA! They are the largest in the world which gives them a tremendous amount of power with governments.

@nancy @edano if you look at the video of #3 one of the first areials.... you can see what look to me to be three steam coluums... around something...... think those heat signiture are a seal or maybe nozzle leaks, you could still have a cap and pressure and have steam leaks....

@Tenzing : since i have seen the air contamination graphics i am convinced they have to evacuate fukushima city, nihonmatsu, koriayama ans sukagawa together with the smaller cities by the north/south highway.

Today the Japanese Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency revised its INES rating of the Fukushima Daiichi event. The previous assessment treated the events at each of the ailing reactors as separate: the core damage to units 1-3 resulted in an assignment of a 5 (accident with wider consequences) for each reactor; the problems at unit 4′s spent fuel pool were assigned a 3 (serious incident). NISA is now treating the situation as a single event, assigned a rating of 7 (major accident). This rating is still being assessed as information about the disposition of radioactive materials originating at the reactor site comes in. mitnse.com

@Edano: That would be at least 600-700K refugess (including current ones). do you think GoJ is ready for that right now? Tepco will have to compensate these folks monetarily. Now you see whey they are withholding information

@Optim, that is why the GoJ wants to nationalize the plant. It would then be a compensation claim against the GoJ, and you know you can't sue the government !!!

@fitter, the video has date and time also. This could be helpful for Jo to match up his data. I will have to go back and look at the heat signature images for the 27th and see what they look like. Jo mentioned some major pressure drops around the 20th or 21st where outer containment went to atmosphere pressure IIRC?

@nancy i dont know if this takes you to the page or the area i was looking at, but try it and see if you find the pic at bottom of page >>>looks like reactor no cap and arrow pointing to the steps... that those concrete plates sit on over the containmetn cap.... don't quite understand what they were comparing because there is no rubble, but you shoul look at the pic www.physicsforums.com

@wtm : the latest idea on that now is to split the fukushima part from tepco, so they can survive with their undamaged plants ...... so the japanese would have to pay with their taxes. oh well.
