@Peter Melzer that crane is greenish. I think both at least in 3 &4 are green. The inside of 3 is pale yellow, you can see that on some of the scraps and trussing.

Excessive radioactive cesium found in fish caught off Fukushima
TOKYO, April 13, Kyodo

Radioactive cesium 25 times above the legal limit for consumption was detected Wednesday in young sand lance caught off Fukushima Prefecture, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said.

One of the sample fish had a level of cesium of 12,500 becquerels per kilogram about 500 meters off the city of Iwaki, and 35 kilometers from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station, it said. The limit is 500 becquerels under the Food Sanitation Law.

If someone has time to take it on, the spreadsheets.google.com spreadsheet I put together from the NYT status updates was more meant to be a framework than a finished work. If there's a complete list of daily readings for all reactors, that critical data (pressures, temps, when water was poured on, how much) could be entered into a copy of that spreadsheet so we have a place to keep track of them. If anyone wants to take on such a project, give me your email and I'll give you editor status. I duped the sheet into a second sheet we can use for it if we want. Anyone think it's worthwhile?

My plate is full today with radio stuff, but that includes getting a contact in UC Berkeley NUC for updates, background and to see if they have a spare network Geiger counter to make available to the local public radio station.

The Brazil site has been consistent in maintaining the data sets -- missed a few days, but then when they get back to it their files contain all reported data. These should readily import: www.ic.unicamp.br

To radioguy : Actually it is NOT Questioning . Just look Carefully at the picture, and other pictures , you can see that chunks marked as "rods" are more than 10m long. It is absurd.

@Maxi OK, maybe question marks would be good for those who came in late to the discussion, but we've been using those pics for speculative collaboration, not definitive analysis. That's our mission really, dig through the clutter and drivel, find the facts, and try our damnedest to figure out what's going on amidst a bewildering array of incomplete, misleading and just plain false information.

@Maxi Do you have some dimensions of rod assemblies? That would go a long ways towards making comparisons. I can get measurements of relative other objects in images and determine how long or large things in question are. This is collaborative so more info helps us figure things out.

@Nancy You can use www.esrl.noaa.gov to make fallout predictions for your area. The blue and purple areas have increased radiation. This correlation was determined in the 50s and 60s in the effort to determine Soviet nuke tests.

The rods would never come out of the spent fuel pool as complete assemblies, only broken rods that might eject a few pellets during an explosion. IMO

@FradyKat There was speculation by a couple of people that the explosion on #3 could have ejected rods or rod assemblies. TEPCO has admitted on a number of occasions there were rods or SFP material beside #4 and between #3 and #2

@Nancy The bulk of the explosion went upwards, and the rods are down low under tons and tons of water (a shock buffer). There is a 2 inch thick stainless steel bucket around the pool, then 8 inches of concrete. Pellets maybe, full rods or assemblies .... Nah!

@FradyKat TEPCO is admitting it is fuel rods or at least the material out of SFP, I would have to go back and look at articles to get the exact wording.
