  • @xxx but what is in that spot on the floor? The part by the ? is not where the SFP is. The SFP is left of that near the end wall they are pumping water into.

  • Pretty sure they do not have special xl rods. Storage casks are 5.4m, a good chunk of space at each end taken up by various layers of the cask. Moving fuel from sfp back to the core could not reasonably have happened. They had no power, those assemblies are very heavy, and many people would be in a world puf trouble if they lied about that pool being empty.

  • We don't know the exact details xxx of what maintenance was going on the required the fuel to be removed to the spent fuel pools. it's unlikely that they would be moving anything from the time the earthquake hit up until the damage, loss of flow and makeup.... I"m just not sure on that one..

  • For now, i'll continue to think that a fairly cool, 30c, reading could be a bit o of residual radiation, reactor vessel contamination, a bit of left over pool water, whatever.

  • @dean If the rows on the heat images are caused by the roof trussing it could explain the rows. Then the question is what debris is causing that much heat? I will go back and re-look at side views and see if I can find anything again in that region.

  • I drew some lines on that heat image to determine the mid lines of the length and width of the reactor work floor to get a better idea where the heat signature is vs the estimated location of the reactor well. Those heat signature appear to be over the reactor well or just beside it. Best guesses on reactor well location on #3 and #4 is it is just slightly off of the mid line on the long side of the building and on the mid line the short way. Will post the image in a few minutes. Not sure what to think of this though. Ideas?

  • @nancy, perhaps warm water is making its way from the SFP to the reactor. Afterall, the reactor was opened for service at the time of the EQ.

  • depending on what MODE of operation they were in at the time of earthquake we could determine if it was cold shutdown , refueling, maintenance all could be different levels and if the gas rubber seal gates were deflated and/or removed the exchange of warmer water and water level would make sense

  • @jo, will take a look at them. Was wondering if they were your mark ups or from somewhere else. The reactor well is round opening and closer to the mid-line, not the wall. This image gives a good idea. There is a rectangular well near the edge that has been mistaken as the reactor well by a couple of people & places. There are images of a section of the round reactor well on both 4 and 3 that match this image. Will go take a look at the shiny object your pointing to and see what it might be. www.houseoffoust.com
