@Canadian. Thanks for posting the images. Where did you find them. Looking for clues for new image sources since TEPCO and the authorities seem to have put a blackout on images

@Nancy use the thermal images as an example. on the north /south.... usually you just give the notation arrow NORTH... then its relevent to whom ever to decide south/east/west... if yoou look on the elevation drawing it will say "section looking west" this usually pertains to elevations.... vs arials or plans

@Nancy those ones I just google searched, I was trying to find aerials from before the EQ and I had found one (but lost it ... ugh) and the stuff was there before also.

I have been trying to determine either another source of images or a way to do some sort of demand to get them, like a freedom of information request. But I am unsure what agencies I could make such a demand of and on what grounds. The only one I could think of is the NRC but unsure if I can just do a blanket request for copies of all images they have of the plant or what. Also totally clueless about any such laws regarding international agencies or agencies in Japan and if I would have any standing as a foreigner to make a demand.

BTW, one thing I am trying to dig for when I have time is images of the insides of the plant buildings before damage. Such as people's tour photos or press photos taken inside and on the fueling floor. Those could lend us some badly needed clues.

@Nancy I did find this one, it's most of the webcam pics and multiple screen caps from NHK , many of the screencaps were trying to identify the hole in the roof and shows one theory www.in.odessa.ua

Yes, the PA thing is intriguing. I live in the area and have been following the news closely. The levels being raised as a result of all the large hospitals, etc. doesn't make sense when coupled w/ the rainwater readings near the Limerick nuclear power plant (which were very high in comparison to rainwater in most of the US at this point). I've been following here since Reuters but mostly watch and learn. Thanks to all of you for your tireless work on this page.

Fuel rod fragments at bottom of vessels search.japantimes.co.jp "the entire fuel assembly at reactor 3 is believed to be safely submerged" #3 has been reporting -2.2 meters for weeks, since the explosion in mid March, so how do they reach that conclusion?

Dean -- What's your thought on my prior comment. Someone saying the entire #3 assembly is believed safely submerged, though the measured water level dropped sharply when there was the explosion in March, has been around -2.2 meters.

@all Question...Japanese officials are insisting that melted fuel in reactors 1-3 has settled evenly on the bottom of each containment vessel in the form of grains or pelets. They are saying this even distribution means there won't be re-criticality. Does anyone know if there is actual science or evidence behind this conclusion? english.kyodonews.jp

@LM I'm unsure how they reached their conclusions. That's the article that also says the #3 core is completely submerged, though the WL measurements dropped to over 2m below top of rods, and have pretty much stayed there, since the explosion in mid March.

The WL instrument hasn't been taken offline, declared "under survey", so I find it impossible to understand how they can assert that something with 2.2m exposed is completely submerged.

@Markfm I guess we'll never get an accurate assessment. If the water out eventually equals the water in we have real problems....not that we don't have them already!
