@elainekirk So if I am reading that right Unit 4 was going to get the shroud replacement during the 2010-2011 maintenance cycle. This falls into fitter's theory they had welding equipment on the deck...

@hudebnik it sure would and welding gear etc may have been in the building if work was in progress so the explosion being different to the others... fitter came up with the theory of gas canisters some time ago I believe

4 is also the RPV that a whistleblower said they messed up when they made it at the foundry and one side had partially caved in and had a thin spot. He worried it would crack at some point.

@elainekirk LOL. The explosion and 3 fires. If there was already incredible heat on the deck from the fuel pool it could have very easily made the tanks explode igniting whatever hydrogen was in the building. The remaining fires were enough to make what was left of the roof asphalt go away

Looking #4 roof, the only way for this big objet to get up there is to have pass through the roof; the only place the roof has a huge hole is at the north side; so I bet this object have been shot up through the roof by the explosion; it may have stroke the whole before, which may explain the north wall damages; then this object was likely on the service floor before it jumped.
Might it be part of the containment vessel concrete plug ?

Jo i need to post a "alternite shroud replacement doc" not sure how to interpert what the design is on "mechanial seals vs welding" (toe or tee boxes).. don't wnat to miss you so i'll post this and come back

@all am going to look for the post on Conterfiet Parts.... its is a big issue... will grab jo's fisrt... JO i do not know if japan is using this "alternate" procedure.... @nancy I think that spider contraption may be part of the Chemical decomntamination/maintance process... word or caution the physic form folk are not in constructability.... you NEVER take a gas tank "inside any tank" you tank a hose that leads to a tank!!!! BASIC RULE... nothing goes inside a tank if it can be done in an alternate fashion.. tools/rags etc.. its a saftey issue.... go to go get jo's be back

@jo lin link to tinyurl.com can you give me feed back on the mechanical joints vs welded joints.. opion on comparable strenthen in relation to falure ... have not found any sketches on the mechanical seals... but i never found one that does't leak or fail in time..

When I look at 1 I see water level down again (more exposed), RPV pressure continuing its slow rise, though temps are indeed dropping. Not sure if that's time for a happy dance.

@nancy @eline pbadupws.nrc.gov this is just a short presentation on the conterfit parts... i have one that goes into the forging of the reactor and is higher tech... but this show in general that there is a problem

@Jocelyn Mayer Not likely it is a concrete plug section. Look down on the ground level piping beside 4 at the huge concrete chunk sitting on the pipe. That is likely part of 3's concrete plug section.

I am working on getting the new drone images done on 4. Two things stick out. The end wall that is caved in and the big sections blown out on the other end of the building. It looks like maybe the explosion pulled/pushed everything out the south end by the SFP. Something caved in that end wall and we now know it wasn't 3's explosion pushing it in.

@mark I think to be honest that when I was doing the readings pin a couple of days back I killed that instead of the readings I knew I had hit the wrong one but it doesnt give you a 'are you sure option' so I didnt know what I had hit :)
