@Markfm I noticed the radiation stats posted had the exact same reading at every monitoring station for every hour for long stretches. Then when they changed they all changed for a long stretch. They are putting out BS data. Either making it up or just taking one reading and filling in the hourly with that reading until they take it again. TEPCO is really bad at faking data. #2 suppression chamber/torus B reading back up to 114 Sv/hr at noon on 21 Apr. Last reading of 114 was at 6:00 on 19 Apr, then it had dropped to 89 Sv/hr as of 0:00 on 20 Apr. Something is lively there, cycling up and down.

Nancy, wish I knew. Curious to see if it correlates to a change in pressure or temperature. These are healthy blips upward in the reading, from which point it starts to drop again, so I suspect they are real events of some kind.

@Majjham Zazen Interesting, thanks for the link. Sadly the TEPCO numbers mean almost nothing to me anymore, other than that it probably represents the most optimistic possible 'minimum'. Add to that that Kyodo has restricted access, and all the recent stories about media control in Japan, and I'm in such a position of mistrust that I'm assuming now the truth is generally at least 2x worse than every report coming out of Japanese official media. I really used to give them the benefit of the doubt, but given what we've seen, I actually think that's completely reasonable now.

Still puzzles me what caused that damage in the lower part. Somehow it seems unlikely to me that it was spent fuel as that is in the upper part - which had a light construction compared to the lower part (see explosion reactor nr 1). But I am no explosion expert.

Pretty quiet. #1 core continuing its slow, stately, rise in pressure, #2 torus B channel showed another radiation bump, back to 114 Sv/hr as of 12:00 on 21 April (it had been down to 89 Sv/hr on 20 Apr at 0:00). Any thoughts on what would cause these periodicc pulses? They bring the reading to a new plateau, show decay, then a few days later another bump. Is this "chugging"?

@Bobby1 All I found so far was that a temp on #2 went from 186 degrees to -116 degrees over the time frame of the explosion. A few rough guesses were that whatever exploded related to the temp drop on 2 but unsure what. Maybe the core dropping though?

@Nancy I don't remember ever seeing a video of unit 4 explosion. I just remember news starting about fire there when it started to go downhill. I could be wrong and just missed a video.
