  • awwwwwwww.. Tenzing.. keep looking... ok.. my take on that one...it's a very long long history that spans the entire spectrum of development of systems for purposes of the national security and, by the very nature had to be classified so that information would not be leaked to the outside world (spies), as an example.. take the CHERNOBYL reactor copied from us,, built without the safety features nor worker protection in mind and obviously with out the public in mind. after the cold war and after the fall of the soviet union I wish in the process of maintaining our superiority we would have begun to do more oversight over all govn't organizations because they all have their flaws. in the 80's there was alot more oversight because OSHA, NEPA, and EPA and with in the states departments of environmental quality all were allowed on many sites and they have to meet those regulatory requirements today. I'm not totally familiar with all the stuff back in NY or on those other areas, but he's definately got a beef that, should be heard.. i wish his congressman would invite him to testify .

  • Don't know if this is interesting or trivial...sometimes the devil is in the details. www.physor2004.anl.gov (Will now crawl back into my cave.)
    by smoss 4/28/2011 2:50:10 AM

  • @tenzig....its even more layered than that....we just dont have control.....sure this time it is a tsunami and an earthquake, but according to current trajectories, 30 years from now, when EVEN JORDAN will have nuclear power plants, it could be some sort of war, it could be a superbug, any kind of issue which could cause a reactor to ecome abandoned for a day or so would do.
    by wrshpr 4/28/2011 2:50:12 AM

  • Just a question: Is it possible that they were attempting to do a bit of a re-fit in Unit 4? ie. JOYO MK-1 Core: Sodium-Cooled Uranium Plutonium Mixed Oxide Fueled Fast Core surrounded by UO2 blanket virtual.vtt.fi (the links look funny, sorry)
    by smoss 4/28/2011 2:50:57 AM

  • bobby.. as we talk here there are works going on to revisit YUKA mountain with perhaps increasing it's capacity. Fukushima will start a movement in this country that will re-open YUKA MOUNTAIN approval,,, it;'s election time coming and you bet it will be a hot potatoe..
    by dean 4/28/2011 2:51:01 AM

  • @Jim Carver speaking the truth, there is nothing wrong with that.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 2:51:42 AM

  • @dean ditto, and the Cold war was a real one. Whether it was in the minds of politicians or not--it was real to us.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 2:51:51 AM

  • @dean I think enough public pressure can be put on the issue to get both Reed and Obama to give in on it. I really do not see another option.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 2:52:36 AM

  • it will only be a hot potatoe in Nevada, dean, and I don't know that Nevada will be a swing state this go around with such an intense fear of union busting (Unless Romney is the nominee, since Nevada has a huge Mormon contingent).
    by wrshpr 4/28/2011 2:52:40 AM

  • @dean I have to agree, public opinion will be hard for Obama to fight if he wants to get re-elected.

  • Thank you dean, I'm working on a letter to my Senators I'll share it with you and all before I send it.
    by Tenzing 4/28/2011 2:53:47 AM

  • @smoss From what we can find so far reactor 4 was having a new shroud put in the reactor and possibly some other work that wasn't documented.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 2:54:10 AM

  • good work Tenzing.. I will do that same thing and get the state people too... nrc people,,,
    by dean 4/28/2011 2:55:30 AM

  • I haven't paid attention to unit 3 explosion discussions and didn't watch Gundersen yet. So you may have seen these already. Over at physicsforums side by side video of 1 and 3 explosions. www.physicsforums.com
    by Scilla 4/28/2011 2:55:39 AM

  • this will be the first time in YEARS that nuclear power will be an issue in a presidential election - that is something positive :)
    by Tenzing 4/28/2011 2:56:05 AM

  • @Tenzing Something that might help others to write letters or contact their representatives is what points to cover if your unsure and what you want them to do. If the goal is to solve the safety issues? The SFP issue, shut down the Mark 1 units? All of the above? If you can tell them what you want done they are more prone to act or think about it. Does anyone know who all is on the right committee? I know Franken was on fire about this in a hearing.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 2:56:23 AM

  • @Tenzing There is also a huge issue that brings it into a more "real" context. Many thought of nuclear power in the context of protests in the 70's. Just keep playing that video of reactor 3 blowing sky high and point out that the same thing is sitting in their back yard or district.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 2:57:54 AM

  • @Nancy Understood that the new shroud was a topic of conversation and analysis. Still trying to decide what is being left unspoken, or documented as the case may be. Amazing detailed analysis is what I have truly enjoyed about this site. Great Job All!
    by smoss 4/28/2011 2:58:26 AM

  • @Nancy I find out about the right committees and work on a draft that others can use, maybe we can post it somewhere
    by Tenzing 4/28/2011 2:58:26 AM

  • Well, I don't know if you guys noticed it, but the one thing that has consumed all my waking hours in the last six or so weeks is this problem. I worked on it as a kid. I went to college for geolgy but I had to take a lot of Physics and Chemistry too. I have never foegotten how I loathed this as an adolecsent and it just stays with me now that I am older and have grandchildren and that's why I am here. I want to see SOME AFFECT for the people and for our World.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:00:18 AM

  • I'm in need of rest so I'll say goodnight. Jim Carver you do AFFECT people and our world, I listen to your passion and opinion and I am moved to action, thank you.
    by Tenzing 4/28/2011 3:02:46 AM

  • @Tenzing Thank You for being a part of it.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:03:37 AM

  • @smoss We know information gaps exist. Trying to look at the other info and read between the lines many times gives you new clues.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 3:03:55 AM

  • @Jim Carver I think that just speaking the truth, by itself, has an effect.
    by Bobby1 4/28/2011 3:04:05 AM

  • @Jim Carver You will and you are. The group is getting noticed and your a big part of it. I will drop you an email in the morning when I am not falling asleep.
    by Nancy 4/28/2011 3:05:09 AM

  • @Bobby1 @Nancy Thank You all for being a part of it and this something we will never forget.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:07:57 AM

  • That in itself is worth it.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:08:35 AM

  • trying but not wanting to look at the reality of what is going on, but having to. This is the worst nuclear disater the world had ever faced and will kill god knows how many folks down the line, and affect so many more. At this time there are so few voices to speak what is going on but dont be dissheartened because the truth has to be told and we can only hope the message of reality will get heared.
    by e123 4/28/2011 3:12:03 AM

  • for the sake of it, it finally has to be pointed out that all those plants were primarily designed to supply a product, under the screen of pure energy, that product is enriched uranium and plutonium for the thousands of warheads sitting in silos today!
    by talisker 4/28/2011 3:12:42 AM

  • @talisker @e123 Guys it's a failed policy and it goes right to the top. If you don't have the stomach for this I will understand. Be to me, it's a mission and to this I will pledge my life.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:15:55 AM

  • Didn't know I was quite that serious?
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:17:06 AM

  • @e123 People will start to get sick soon enough. And they're gonna want to know what is going on.
    by Bobby1 4/28/2011 3:17:14 AM

  • I am
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:17:20 AM

  • @Nancy Sorry My internet had stopping working... I min any thing. I think any information that has be find, has to be look as if could be false and misleading. If I want distract people from Reactor l,ets say " Z " I leak photos from "G". I find some people give information on electric board of reactor "B", we spend days studding electric maps of no importance ... Sorry I have problems to type English . I Talk figurative and I have no Idea of nuclear power. Is just my sailor instinct t that is saying that things are not whiff they appear to be.
by Majjham Zazen 4/28/2011 3:17:28 AM

  • @Majjham Zazen Aw, that's ok, some people don't understand me either. I like everything you've done and are a great asset.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:19:06 AM

  • But Nancy got to get some rest.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:20:22 AM

by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:20:49 AM

  • @Majjham Zazen So where are youfrom, if you don't mind my asking?
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:23:01 AM

  • do you know what i cant get out of my mind is those children playing in the towns around the affected areas when i see readings of 97usv on the ground this is a nightmare.
    by e123 4/28/2011 3:23:29 AM

  • @e123 I know, me either. And those stray dogs and cattle and things.
by Jim Carver 4/28/2011 3:24:43 AM

  • by e123 4/28/2011 3:25:11 AM

  • this was taken on the 24th of this month
    by e123 4/28/2011 3:25:42 AM

  • plutonium picked up in hawaii what is blowing around fukushima.
    by e123 4/28/2011 3:29:05 AM

  • Maybe some people can blame it on the earthquake and tsunami, but I know there's more to it. I have been criticised for not looking at the 'real' victims, but in my mind, they are already dead, the ones that concern me are the now living. If you know me, you would know that I am not religious, but very spiritual.
