Wednesday, April 27, 2011 Japan's Ministry of Health to Get Rid of Annual Radiation Limit for Nuclear Plant Workers
The normal limit of 50 milli-sieverts per year is to be eliminated, but 5-year total of 100 milli-sieverts limit remains.
If the limit is eliminated, the workers who will have been exposed to the radiation of more than 50 milli-sieverts but less than 100 milli-sieverts at Fukushima I Nuke Plant will still be able to work at other nuke plants, as long as 5-year total remains under 100 milli-sieverts. ex-skf.blogspot.com

I gotta question my source here but it wan an NHK new story a month ago, "New Radiation Limits Raised 500% for Fukushima Plant Workers" "The radiation exposure limit for workers at nuclear power plants is 100 milli-sievert/year, but the limit has been raised to 250 milli-sievert/year to deal with the Fukushima I Nuke Plant accident. Sorry- enter key- TEPCO said later in the day the massive radiation amount of 400 millisievert per hour, or 400,000 microsievert, was recorded around debris in front of the No 3 reactor and that the material may have come from the nearby No 4 reactor. Could this be an answer? www.bellona.org

TEPCO said the water level in the pool storing the spent fuel rods at the Fukushima Daiichi's nuclear plant's No. 4 reactor may have dropped, exposing the rods.
The firm said it has not yet confirmed the current water level or water temperature in the pool and will try to pour water into the facility from Wednesday through holes that were created following an explosion earlier Tuesday in the walls of the building that houses the reactor.
Unless the spent fuel rods are cooled down, they could be damaged and emit radioactive substances. The government's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency urged TEPCO to inject water into the pool soon to prevent heating of the fuel rods.
“This is very serious because the fuel is outside of any kind of containment,” said Bellona’s Bøhmer. “This will lead to excessive radiation and have a severe environmental consequences and put further radiation out into the atmosphere.”
Bøhmer pointed out that the boiling spent fuel ponds ratchet up the danger to humans.
“Particularly, this increases radiation to which people could be subjected,” he said. The burning radioactive elements would release caesium, strontium, uranim and perhaps plutonium

Unit 4 explosive sound - 3/15/2011 See www.tepco.co.jp - past Progress attachment, link at bottom - At approx. 6:00am, March 15th, an explosive sound was heard and the damage in the 5th floor roof of Unit 4 reactor building was confirmed. At 9:38am, the fire near the northwest part of 4th floor of Unit 4 reactor building was confirmed. At approx. 11:00am, TEPCO employees confirmed that the fire was extinguished. - At approx. 5:45am on March 16th, a TEPCO employee discovered a fire at the northwest corner of the reactor building. TEPCO immediately reported this incident to the fire department and the local government and proceeded with the extinction of fire. At approx. 6:15am, TEPCO employee confirmed at the site that there were no signs of fire.

Per the summary report, the "explosive sound" was heard at 6:00 am 3/15, then later at 9:38 3/15 a fire was confirmed. Probably a good idea to cross check against other summaries.

The Te-132 is new, it could be blowing off of #3. I saw smoke coming from there today, it is still active.

@ch Yeah, I 've been at this since reuters and I STILL don't have a good handle on it. They keep changing it. That's why I grimace sometimes when I'm asked to save something. They'll just say they were wrong before and it doesn't matter. One thing I will hold Tepco to is if they admitted something. Because they are so conservative they wouldn't let something out even if they decided to refute it later. So I do believe something they admitted in the past. The other stuff is up for grabs.

So, anything other than the leak in pool 4 you can think of? As i recall they say the reactor is okay except for those out of sight radiation reading which may be caused by a sensor failure...?

@Jim Carver Now that I know of #4s explosion- was wondering -could that have damaged the SFP directly or possibly weakened the supports to it enough to eject/tip out (not sure how to word it) I conjure up a pic in my head of the supporting floor and wall being so weakened that the pool is no longer level. Tepco did say they wanted to go under it to shore it up, right? Isn't there hotspot in or close to reactor on thermals? I'm not so good at piking stuff out of the pics. Glad Nancy is. Sorry getting tired does this make any sense?
