@Markfm, seems to be some differences between the NISA reports and the JAIF/TEPCO reports, TEPCO will always have a little lower pressure than the NISA report for the same time period.

Good insight, I hadn't noticed that before. I've used the NISA data sets since early on, since dredging out TEPCO releases grew too painful.

@Markfm, even if you look at the JAIF/TEPCO report, at the top they will have each reactor by itself, and then sometimes a summary at the bottom listing all the reactors. SOmetimes what is on the individual list is not the same as on the summary list. ???

Ahh, so TEPCO will now claim that hydrogen explosions are part of the planned defense-in-depth for protecting things.

@Markfm, I like the NISA reports best, but I can't seem to find the correct links to get to them, except for what is put on top of this page, and then that needs to be posted by somebody here every time, which with all that is going on, can be time spaced. But they are doing a great job here trying to keep up with all of it !!!! Thanks all !!!

I think.. that if the tanks capture contaminants from the processing of water like the demineralizer tank which usually has resin, or the sludge,, after the accident depending on what level of activity went there before the tsunami hit they all could have high rad readings.. some more than others tho

@dean have a question for you. How routine is it for items to be dropped into the SFP or reactor well? How common are small leaks of the radioactive water piping? Just trying to get an idea what is "normal" wear and tear at a plant.

@dean i think the precoat and sludge tank do got to the pools,,,, but may also connect to the reactor piping.... i can't read the japanese notes i find so its very difficult to look at... i was going to look at some to the US plants... in theroy the systems sould be close... do you think???? (i can read the english)

nancy.. at power plants they have to set up ZONES to prevent people from dropping things in those areas.. at lease where I worked,, have to have lanyards for tools etc. and we had to have accountability logs for every thing in and then checked out,,,, the canal areas were not quite as stringent,,,, leaks are VERY UNCOMMON and plants use equations to calculate leak rates and have shutdown criteria when it gets too high... some systems have seal water through penetrations like where the control rods penetrate the bottom head and some have seal water that is slightly higher than the PCS pressure to keep the seals wetted... now.. having said all this.. some times something could be introduced to the system

@fitter, somewhere we have a pic of the reactor room looking at the SFP pool, only has a rope fence around the top of it to prevent somebody from walking into it.

precoat and sludge sounds like on the SFP system,,, need to search on SFP water chemistry control system... I know most have sterilizers and heat exchangers with some chemicals added to give the SFP the same water chemistry as the reactor primary coolant sytem

@dean Yes that was part of the info was that the pool has to have the same chemisty, that why i was thinking that the system is dual for both,, or do you think they would have seperated systems.. do you get heat decay in the reactor that has to be filtered out???

fitter probably seperate sytems.. and the decay heat only is refering to the amount of heat the fuel elements are giving off (typically measured in mega watts and a precentage ~7-8 of the full power rating of the facility),, it is heat that must be removed through the heatexchangers on secondary side of the plant

they have six smaller (had i think they left the building on some) non-regenertive heat exchangers... the one item nancy was thinking might be a ladder looked like a frame that we would build for a platform... but i only have the diamiter, not length so i really don't know the size of the tanks... but in scale to the condinsate tanks they are much saller and are stacked... what do you think ???
