
I've been around older plants and I've not see a conduit with a pneumatic inside unless t was some penetration through a wall etc. I can remember one where some FIRE WATER INJECTION lines were surrounded by a thick walled pipe 1/2 section to protect it .. but most of the time its just the old stainless tubing

xxx.. they do lower water levels in the core to do mechanical changes.. the one that I saw was changing the spray header inside the vessel...
