I think the "Cherenkov" area is on the lower right-hand side of #3.
by Bobby1 5/4/2011 2:13:44 AM
that was supposed to be a 30

current temp in Fukushima 57f 14c, warm enough to not be cold air steam unless there is really cold air off the sea.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:14:22 AM
@carabnr on it.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:14:56 AM
Temp does not matter, it is the difference in temp that matters. Air vs land.

@Nancy The next time he pans to four, look half way down the wall. I really thought I saw flame thru the 'window'
by marie rich 5/4/2011 2:15:38 AM
@Nancy Do you see a redish glow half way down the wall on #4? The one facing north?
by marie rich 5/4/2011 2:15:42 AM
Help!! @Marie stuck in mod!!
by Angie 5/4/2011 2:15:44 AM
Cold air, which does not heat up quickly, vs land, which is warming up quickly.
by Ralph Unger 5/4/2011 2:17:06 AM
@marie rich we can see 2 walls, the south wall with the SFP open end. The other is the land side wall. I am assuming you mean that side wall? When we had another angle Elaine thought she saw flames too.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:18:06 AM
@ Marie - I think I see a reddish glow too - been watching it
by UKVal 5/4/2011 2:18:18 AM
TY Nancy

The side facing unit three. just below the top big 'window' of missing concrete...but you know I'm bad with pics
by marie rich 5/4/2011 2:19:54 AM
I expanded the youtube video to get a better look. The yellow containment dome can be seen. It can be seen 3 panels in from the left, one down. With the window of video much larger I can see it is the containment dome. I think the heat waves messing with the picture are making things look brighter like a flame flickering.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:20:50 AM
With my telescope, most of the distortion I get is in the first 300 feet of air.
by Ralph Unger 5/4/2011 2:20:57 AM
what's that sound - car? waves? fire?
by UKVal 5/4/2011 2:21:03 AM
I would still keep an eye on 4, it is boiling pretty good right now.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:21:53 AM
I'd bet the roof he's taking it from is the primary shimmer culprit.
by radioguy 5/4/2011 2:23:05 AM
It looks at least from this angle that the smoke on 4 isn't coming off the SFP or the wind is blowing it through the building before it wafts out.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:24:18 AM
All of what they are looking through is in the first 300 feet of air. Dicey stuff.
by Ralph Unger 5/4/2011 2:25:11 AM
whatever the glow is half way down, it hasn't varied much in the last 15 mins
by UKVal 5/4/2011 2:25:32 AM
This hideous batch of poison which is spewing out is going to engulf all of Japan the next few days. www.rcec.sinica.edu.tw
by Bobby1 5/4/2011 2:26:19 AM
@Bobby1 I have officially become jaded. I looked at that and went "oh it is only milliseiverts.." Do they have some accurate estimates how much is being pumped out in that daily steam?
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:28:49 AM
@all, if you do "pop out" or full screen on the you tube video you can get a much better look.
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:29:43 AM
From "Aerosols, Air quality and Regional climate changes (AAR) modeling lab" not real data. It might be true though, but it is just a model.
Less radiation and more contamination? I am baffled once again.
by Ralph Unger 5/4/2011 2:44:12 AM
@Nancy, can you get carabnr out of mod?
by Panserbjorne9 5/4/2011 2:44:43 AM
@Panserbjorne9 will do! Wonder why everyone is getting tangled up?
by Nancy 5/4/2011 2:45:00 AM
@mod can you please put me back out of Mod
