@Ralph -- Another catch-22 story. The special equipment to monitor a power plant problem fails due to a lack of power. Makes you wonder about the thought process used.

@radioguy as far as in general TEPCO seems to have suddenly gotten their act together. The air system in #1 to enable getting into the outer building, though actually getting into containment is another story. They have a plan to build a temporary tsunami wall to help protect the mess at the plant. Someone made a very good decision and dumped the idea of pouring cement pillars under sfp at 4 in favor of steel pillars. We are still missing tons of data, temps and heat images on 3 and 4 sfp.

SPEEDI. Which I don't understand is that the press insists that the data released today are based on the assumption of an emission of 1 BEQ/h in the atmosphere. But as we all know the release of radioactivity was much higher, therefore the values of dispersion on the map should be much higher.

Looks about the size of a decent shop vac, based on the cord/plug on it. Must be a whopping 4" intake. About right to filter the air in a small closet. (Hopefully someone will tell me how wrong I am, that it's huge capacity.)

@Lurking that looks like the same view (approximately) that Teppycam has -- the glow/worklight is visible in the feed you just linked if your monitor is tweaked right.

@dean, amazing video and detail, the guy who went in there is Aoyama Shigeharu from the Nuclear Safety Commission. I can offer some information on what is discussed in it, if it has not been translated or discussed already.
