  • Cs-137 is the winner, 30 year half life I guess, but it is not as bad as I-131 so I guess it is a good thing. Unless it gets in your body. Cs 134 is doing OK as well.

  • Has anyone noticed the radiation level in #3 Drywell lately ??? S/C 5.06 x 10 Sv/h D/W 9.74 x 10 Sv/h that is really high, shouldn't be any radiation in DW unless it is getting RPV water in it or it has corium in it !!!

  • @carabnr Oh, on the video saw the containment cap on #4. That is the one that was uninstalled because they are working on it. The containment cap on #3 is still playing where's waldo.

  • I think the containment cap on #4 was giving the illusion of flames because it is so light colored and the heat waves.

  • @Nancy, never seen the D/W anywhere near that high, S/C had been creeping up, I think it was a 3 something last week, now a 5 something. Something is happening in there, and it isn't good with that high of a reading.

  • @wtm we started seeing steam or smoke out of 3 about 2 weeks ago. Same time 4 heated up. The SFP on 3 and 4 both got hot so the assumption had been steam out of SFP. But the reactor cap on 3 will leak steam out of the reactor well also. Sure sounds like something is not well in the bottom though. I would guess with 10Svh nobody is getting anywhere near 3's containment any time soon.

  • So if that was a small jet (corporate/governmental Lear or whatever) taking off from Fukushima airport, heading as tight into the wind as it could and avoid the exclusion zone, then that camera could be in Tamura.

  • @wtm we were discussing this morning that the RPV in 3 may have not just jumped up when it reached high pressure but could have been moved side to side in the earthquake. On top of whatever the blast did. 3 is likely an epic mess inside.

  • @Nancy, been noticing the water levels, they can't seem to fill them any higher than what they currently are now, no matter how much water they keep telling us they are putting in there. I think that some valves or piping in the RPV's and S/C's are broke, and the water is leaking out at that particular level in the units. no way it is going to get higher until those pipes get fixed or plugged. Which means that those rods have got to be melted.

  • Interesting that light spot in the middle of #4 is very light compared to the other things on that side of the building....W.... but the South side is bright from the sun in the south... could it be the containment cap illuminating from the middle of the building b/c there's no roof?

  • @wtm I am guessing the torus on 2 and 3 are toast. There was a study where they said if the torus was too full of water a rush of steam pressure would act like a water hammer into the torus. So if a rush of steam could potentially damage it, what would the kick back of the massive explosion on 3 do? I would assume enough pressure getting pushed into the torus would torque or bow the sections that get the brunt of the force and hard enough could bend, break, the joints or break loose connections to pipes etc.
