I liked that story earlier about the town that was untouched by the tsunami, because they have always held to the 600 year old stone markers that say "Build no houses below this line." The tsunami topped out below it.

@radioguy Those who do not follow history are destined to repeat it.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 2:53:36 AM
@Jim Carver Hard to follow history when you kep rewriting it.
by radioguy 5/6/2011 2:54:07 AM
@radioguy low
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 2:54:36 AM
@Jim Carver So true....and that's why I'm more concerned than ever about my nuke plant. They're saying San Onofre was built for a 7.0 but everyone in SoCal knows that an 8.0 is more than possible...if not probable.
by LM 5/6/2011 2:54:50 AM
@LM At some point..people always like to gamble--I guess it's in our nature.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 2:56:10 AM
@Jim Carver True. The fact that Japan, a country smaller than the state of CA, has 55 nuke plants is certainly proof of that.
by LM 5/6/2011 2:58:23 AM
@Jim Carver They do. They are rewriting the corporate history of this every minute.
by radioguy 5/6/2011 2:58:27 AM
@Jim Carver - Naomi Klein: Addicted to Risk, an excellent TED talk : www.ted.com
by bo 5/6/2011 2:58:54 AM
It worked beyond expectations for BP.
by radioguy 5/6/2011 2:59:12 AM
So has 4 always been leaning like that and the angle of the TEPPYcam masks it?
by radioguy 5/6/2011 3:00:06 AM
@bo OMG that memo is explosive! Everything that's been said on here, the things people have researched. TY This guy might really talk to us.
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:00:14 AM
@radioguy Nope. The TBS cam has been up for a few days. This is the first I have noticed 4 leaning like that.

@estacion sure that isn't the heat waves?
by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:06:58 AM
@Jim Carver she wrote The Shock Doctrine, essential reading to understand recent politics (especially from an American point of view) and the brutal emergence of "market fundamentalism"
by bo 5/6/2011 3:07:21 AM

by Angela5pointo 5/6/2011 3:19:06 AM
what eq?
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:19:19 AM
@marie rich We're not sure.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:19:48 AM
There was one earlier tdy rhat was a six, don't know the time
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:19:58 AM
@Angela5pointo I have seen it on previous days. I think in the later day?
by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:20:09 AM
@AngelaSpointo currently here in Japan we are experiencing what we call "kosa." It is yellow sand from Mongolia and China and is large sand storms that blow across eastern Asia. It has cast a yellow murky thickness to the atmosphere here for several days and accounts for the hazy look on the webcam.
