  • This is a comment I received a few weeks ago regarding #4 from someone with contacts at the power plant "The problem is that the main frame of the building that sustains the
pool is badly damaged by fire, and if next quake strikes the plant,
they are not sure if it could hold."

  • @Angle5pointo I live in Hiroshima, about 500 miles from the plants. You bet I have watched Katz @ Yokosonews. He is awesome. In the early days his feed was essential for people like me who don't speak Japanese but are in dire need of the Japanese language news feeds. He should get a medal
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:25:35 AM

  • @all There was a 5.3 EQ 10 hrs ago and a 5.1 EQ 8 Hrs ago besides a few 4's and the 6.1 EQ 12 hrs ago. A busy day....most were fairly close to the Fukushima vicinity.
    by LM 5/6/2011 3:26:41 AM

  • @Nancy That's also the one that leaks/doesn't leak 400 L/hr (SFP)

  • Maybe a bird landed on the camera?

  • Is he still doing "emergency programming" or is he doing more of the curry/food thing?
    by Angela5pointo 5/6/2011 3:27:32 AM

  • @Angel5points not sure, haven't been watching. Nothing of substance comes across the Japanese news channels anymore.
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:28:11 AM

  • @bo I guess ignorance is bliss.

    by estacion 5/6/2011 3:32:28 AM

  • @estacion Guess you were right. What if it had been a large one...you reported it at 10:04 CDT.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:33:17 AM

  • part of the radiation release on the 8th may be the opening of the airlock on #1?
    www.tepco.co.jp
    by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:35:28 AM

  • @estacion Might start calling that one the 'tippy' cam.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:37:33 AM

  • maybe he was talking about a release of radiation figures/rates that is going to be announced on the 8th. and they would want 'good news' to release with something damaging?
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:39:14 AM

  • @Jim Carver: lol
    by estacion 5/6/2011 3:40:13 AM

  • I'm not sure if the airlock opening would constitute a major release or not. Guess we will know on the 8th :-)
    by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:40:14 AM

  • @marie rich Wonder what he was talking about exactly when he said "not make mistakes like before"?
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:41:02 AM

  • The 8th...Happy Mother's Day!
    by LM 5/6/2011 3:41:11 AM

  • @marie rich the phrase "high density radiation" (albeit a translation) would seem to suggest more than data
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:41:17 AM

  • the last part, about sharing sensitive info, sounded like "you guys better communicate so there's no more 'accidental' releases of water"
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:42:22 AM

  • I don't know if anybody saw my post, but the original poster had three omissions on that blog. now
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:43:10 AM

  • Am I reading to much into that? sounded like a bell in my head when I read it
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:43:27 AM

  • @Jim Carver what?
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:44:01 AM

  • @marie rich That's what I got also.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:44:10 AM

  • ooohhh...I find that very telling...
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:44:50 AM

  • @marie rich I translated the original blog post and it showed three omissions and what he said wasn't there.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:45:24 AM

  • @Jim Carver idk that.
by marie rich 5/6/2011 3:46:13 AM

  • @Jim Carver weren't in the translation? or had been removed from the original post in Japanese?
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:47:38 AM

  • @Jim Carver The comment about a large release on the 8th was in the literal translation. I did a translate on his page also.
    by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:48:17 AM

  • He was making some very..well, critical remarks, but not to that degree. It was sanitized.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:48:55 AM

  • @all I am heading into my office now. I can have a Japanese friend read the original page in Nihongo and provide a translation
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:49:04 AM

  • @bo have a good day. Thanks for helping with things.
    by Nancy 5/6/2011 3:49:41 AM

  • @bo It said omission. I still have it, let me check again--make sure.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:49:44 AM

  • @Jim Carver, ok, still here for a few minutes, then a ride through the peace park and back online in a bit less than an hour
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:50:22 AM

  • Here's what I have in Japanese <<<<<http://www.taro.org/2011/05/post-996.php>>>>>>>
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:52:42 AM

  • Is it just me, or does it seem like the quake sizes are starting to get bigger on the West end of the Pacific plate ??
    by wtm 5/6/2011 3:54:00 AM

  • @Jim Carver, got it, will have it read and report back once I am in the office. Now, out into the kosa!
    by bo 5/6/2011 3:54:55 AM

  • @bo K, sounds good.
by Jim Carver 5/6/2011 3:55:27 AM

  • don't breath too heavily Bo.
    by carabnr 5/6/2011 3:55:45 AM

  • I was just looking how #4 seams to be leaning. perhaps they aligned the camera vertical on the tower and the distortion of the lens might make the other side of the pic appear to lean to the right/or south.
