@Edano I know. As many times as that slit experiment is replicated, the mind still refuses to grasp the implications. It's a struggle to even accept it as something besides some weird fluke.

@elainekirk I think it is worth archiving. It explains Japanese oversight and could be used as a bad example on the topic of US deregulation in the industry. :-)

@Ian I'm not saying there wasn't a flash criticality in 3, but Gunderson's argument was flawed. He said hydrogen can't detonate because it produces water. ha ha and ha. I could say something stronger but this is a family show at this hour.

@Jim : my son had the idea : why not shooting nuclear waste into the sun. it would do no harm to the sun. it'a good idea, but too expensive.

@Edano I think it costs about a million dollars a pound these days, and if we could lower that cost substantially--we wouldn't need this process anyway.

@wtm that is quite a bit. I can't tell if it is the wind direction or if it is coming more out of the side near #2. Reactor 4 is still doing an imitation of the Titanic.

@wtm If you look at 4 and compare it to the exhaust towers and also 2 and 3 it has a tilt to the right on the TBS live cam.

Hi folks. Can you tell me what the small structure, (near the ground) directely to the left of the base of right hand tower, cos there is loads of white steam? pouring out.

4 stages of corium.... 1-Corium Jet Impingement 2- early aggressive interaction stage, 3-Long term erosion stage, 4-solidification stage... so.. I wonder what stage they are in at 1-4 reactors

Put the video on full screen if your watching via youtube and you can see a bit more. It looks like it is coming out of the reactor well but is rolling out over the destroyed low corner closest to #2. #3 had some really high temps again this morning.

#4 is without doubt leaning to the right so how close is the common sfp will #4 sfp contaminate the common sfp

Does anyone have a screen dump of cam when it is not so murky. What is directely behind the tower between #2 and #3. Not much activity from#2 and#4 but loads from that spot.

@Nancy. The wall of reactor 3 seems to end about half way across that tower, but the steam seems to be coming from the base or to the left of that. Certainly well below 1/2 way down the hight of reactor3. You have to watch for a while, as there seems to be less now

@Cat Reactor 3 is destroyed at an angle. On the right corner there is more left including part of the wall framing. The left side of 3 is gone to below the work deck. That left side is behind the tower in the angle they are shooting from.

I think the venting tower is pretty much on the corner line of R3, so all of that to the left is the destroyed end of the R3 building, the rubble end?

@Nancy You know, I'm looking at the live cam, and there's less of R3 left than I thought there was from low aspect. Maybe what we were seeing there in that Cherenkov dot-dash "last cam shot" for days was actually coming from R3 all the while (I'm remembering the Cherenkov well pictures), and the dot was reflected off the nearly intact face of R3, and the dash was a much larger glow cut off from view by something in 4.
