midmanage@aol.com to me
I saw that you all were wondering about the levels here. They are indeed high in Los Angeles, disconcertingly so. I wish someone in science who cared about humanity would speak up about this.
if you are able to calibrate an instrument yourselves I recommend you get a CDV-715 and make sure it is properly calibrated by someone you trust-yes you will need an instrument that registers in that caliber unfortunately- and measure it on the West Coast.
best to all of us-perhaps if you all brainstorm enough a eureka moment will happen and provide a workable solution to contain things.

R3 temp instrument maybe failed?
by Markfm 5/10/2011 4:52:31 PM

About those really high temps at the one measurement point in #3, may have a bad instrument. I just looked at the original pinned listing for it, and from back in March:
by Markfm 5/10/2011 4:52:39 PM

The instrument that people are seeing the >300C temp on looks to be the same one that showed -125C in late March (actually, -140 on 21 March, but +559C just 9 hours earlier) . (I don't read Japanese, but it looks like RPV followed by the same characters as in the one people see the high readings at). I kind of doubt it was really -125C, but that calls into question whether the 334C reading is valid. TEPCO notes that they have some squirrely instruments.

I posit that the instrument is severely out of calibration/broken. Veen's post, in the pinup, gives the readouts over multiple days.
