Look at the heading of the third column in the link I just posted, on page 2 (belowq page 1, the graph). That column heading looks to be precisely the same as the one people have been looking at recently, just that Veen's link has more data.

@Jill in Sweden No. All such measurements have been suspended by the US and Canada authorities. The only data available is from the CTBTO (comprehensive test ban treaty organization).

Any instrument that shows 539 on 1 reading, then -132 on the next reading 9 hours later, has "issues"

@all. I think I found something significant. I have been looking for data for the reactors from the EQ through the 1st 24 hours. This website seems to mention it and shows two screen shots of what looks like partial data for March 11, like someone photographed them on paper. If anyone can figure out how we can get better images? translate.google.com

@Jill in Sweden In California the Berkeley Nuclear Engineering dept. Was the only source for comprehensive testing and they have cut back to nothing. I live in SoCaL and as far as I can find out there is no food/soil sampling here and the air sampling doesn't break it down by individual isotopes.

Oh, ty for that information. I am so shocked (I guess I am still much more naive than I thought...) In Sweden there are now testing of grass several placesby teh authorities - very low levels - but still we are a VERY long way from Japan. Max has been 34 Bq/Kg I-131 (which according to their info given that a cow eats about 50 kg of grass per day would give about 14 Bq/kg milk). If the levels in air in western US was about 100 times higher than in Sweden during a period in March April... There must be sampling going on. What about that Freedom of Information act you have?

@Jill in Sweden I am sure there is sampling going on, but the results have not been released by the government. There have been no warnings or advisories in the US whatever, not even for pregnant women. The official position is, everything is perfectly safe (even with 3 reactors and a spent fuel pool releasing radioisotopes into the atmosphere).

One thing of interest, when the EQ happened at fukushima it put of service a tranformation station which cut out the connection to the eletrical grid. This condition lasted for approximately 50 minutes before being restored. After the scram the main steam turbine isolation valves shut which isolated steam to the main turbine and caused it to trip. At this point the electrical facility power that is generated by the turbine and used by various plant systems and instrumentation was also lost.

I am trying to find out what kind of diesels were used for the EMERGENY DIESELS (2 at the plant and as far as my research has indicated - water coole). Only plant 6 had a 3rd diesel that is air cooled. Without water cooling to the diesel it could have over heated as typically the jacket water system on a diesel is cooled by auxillary sytem water (similar to the secondary side in the steam turbine)
